Hi Hayden. Like the grass idea. It does not half cheer up the cab.

Re: My diy Citroen Dispatch conversion - so far

Thanks Casper.  Sets it off very nice indeed and is certainly better than the original dusty mucky ones that came with it. Progress today was to add a viynl bonnet wrap along with some stickers to hide the original sign writing you can see in certain lights.

Re: My diy Citroen Dispatch conversion - so far

I like the look of that wrap, DIY?

I keep looking for transfers to make mine look less van and more camper but its hard being the dark blue. White might just be to bold but its booked on a ferry as a camper for September so i had better get my finger out and find something.

Great conversion! I especially like the maps and classic cushions.

Also, you've managed to make it look cool on the outside, not an easy thing!

I like the look of that Satin Black also, think it would suit the red round the grill being done as well..... Actually I think the whole van done would look the biz.

Nip out to the shed and peel of a bunch of stickers you had on the Panniers off the bike and stick em on the panel behind the N/S sliding door...........

Re: My diy Citroen Dispatch conversion - so far

Cheers for the comments chaps. Reckon it looks fairly decent now and not just a bog standard van (though I do like the original look too!)

Latest updates here https://haydenwsite.wordpress.com/2016/ … r-day-van/

Made, painted and installed a side storage unit along with upholstering the last few exposed ply panels.

Re: My diy Citroen Dispatch conversion - so far

Only criticism from me would be it looks like you need the doors open to make the bed up. That would be a pain on wet nights but a rock n roll bed would take up space what i presume you need for the bikes. There was a guy in ebay selling pull out beds from a bench seat. See this idea

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/3-in-1-SPACES … SwRQlXdR-U

Almost the same but both sides were the same height the slats from one side slid between the other side and you still had the under seat storage. Mattress was the bench seat and back cushion.

Re: My diy Citroen Dispatch conversion - so far

This is what i was on about Hayden...

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Peugeot-Exper … 2235595866

... But make the slats thinner to accommodate your side units. Couple of old 2nd hand single beds cut down to size would be enough wood.

Re: My diy Citroen Dispatch conversion - so far

I toyed with the idea of a rock and roll bed but decided against as you say to give me the flexibility of having the bike inside while sleeping. You're right regards having to have the other door open to retrieve the other cushions to make up the bed. Shouldn't be much of an issue as I can have them out and inside in just a few seconds. Advantage of this is when my wife and son comes along we can use the full width but when it's just me then it can be used 2/3 size (to accommodate the bike).

Re: My diy Citroen Dispatch conversion - so far

You have a smart looking van there  the wheels make a big difference ,  mine still looks like a WAV from the outside

I had these priorities when figuring out my basic lay out ,
1 sleep one with bike (Inflatible canoe !) in and able to cook ,
2. sleep two ,
3.seat two comfortably and cook at the same time .
4 lots of storage
one  person can stay in bed and cook while the other sits in a swivel seat
also access the stove from backdoor

Re: My diy Citroen Dispatch conversion - so far

So to my mind the van is now 95% complete. I'm going to add some Tibetian prayer flags to the interior (to add colour around the top and in front of the white units). Since the last update I added in my 'adventure' books to stir tell imagination while away and created a bespoke map box to hold my various os maps. Also included pictures of the bed assembled to its fullest - when I'm with bike ill use just 2 of the long cushions to accommodate my bike.

What you using on the ceiling in the back? Reason i ask not many taxi headliners go cheap so others may pinch ideas as your looks quite neat.

My dad's a Window and connie fitter and gets his hands on it. I believe it's called 'hollowclad' and connects together (push fit but secured with a few screws). No idea of the cost as I pinched it from him but is very easy to work with.

Re: My diy Citroen Dispatch conversion - so far

Just spoke to the old man and he said its approx £10 for a 5m length. You'd need 2 x lengths (mine was cut to 1.8m and used 3.5 sheets cut to this size so 2 x 5m should be fine with a bit left over. So all in around £20.

I put up 3 batons one at each end and in the middle and fixed to these to hold it up.

Looks and sounds identical to what they used for our ceiling in our bog when making it a wet room...... got it  from  supplier of plastic building materials

http://www.sbs-upvcbuildingproducts.co.uk/

Was the cheaper option of the two for us, apparently very popular in cladding milking parlors for cost, durable and ease of hosing down and keeping clean

Re: My diy Citroen Dispatch conversion - so far

I was looking at some online last night and yeh, nice cheap alternative considering some are asking £120 for a lining.

Look, different colours whats nice.

That's much the same stuff they used in our bog.......However ours was more like long  individual planks and the choice of colour was White......

I've just had a thought..... Will condensation not be a bit of a problem without a roof vent?........Or will roof insulation combat that............

Re: My diy Citroen Dispatch conversion - so far

For my van I added the wind deflectors and will have the windows ajar at night to get a bit of air flow. That combined with half a kilo of silica gel bags dotted throughout I'm hoping will be sufficient.

The stuff in the link is identical to what I used. The other colours looks good too! With the van having no windows white was the colour of choice for most things in the back as with he doors closed it's awfully dark! At least the white reflects the led lights well.

Even in a van with windows the white ceiling could help lots.......I have those self same type wind deflectors and still get a little steaming up on occasion, depending on weather and damp clothing probably, It's maybe the way the airflow actually flows and we also got a half kilo of those silica gel beads...... We stuck them in couple socks, leave and swap them about on dash board of which ever car or the van ( was really for winter as windows were previously freezing up inside  ) which ever is laid up for a few weeks or gets the dampest and I can only say I assume it worked looking at a parked vehicle....... My partner she bungs the gel beads in the micro every other time we swap dries them out apparently..... needed doing or not.
