engine overrevving

Hi, my peugeot expert 2005 is revving slightly high when warm. Any ideas on where to start? Any and all advice would be appreciated. Sorry, it's the 1.9d engine.

Re: engine overrevving

I know on my DW8 there was a cable attached to a piece of wax that pulled a lever on the fuel pump. Its job was to adjust the fuel advance for cold starts, and pull it back when the engine warmed up. That sounds like a probable candidate.

I think on the DW8B which your 2005 one will be, that was replaced with something electronic.

Anyone able to confirm on theirs?

Mine is a 2005 DW8/B Dispatch and it too is fitted with a wax stat and is adjustable ... As kenbw2 says~ It advances timing and some excess fuel to aide cold starts [meant to operate within the relms off aprox 1,200 RPM IIRC]......................

I too have thought my idle was high and because no rev counter doesn't help............
I used a Bluetooth OBD plug and the Torque app on my phone to check all was as it should be ...........

There is a little computer control on a DW8/B but it doesn't mean kenbw2 is incorrect it's possibly linked somehow ......................

Re: engine overrevving

P.S. The Torque app has an option to show a digital rev counter [Tachometer]...................

Re: engine overrevving

hmm i had this on my old XUD..  some of the levers on the top of the injection pump has sized up. i just sprayed everything with WD-40 and worked everything free. theres quite a few bits that move on the top of these pumps that you dont think would.
