Camp sites

Spent the weekend away in a site down south meeting up with a few mates. Wife said rather than go home Sunday why not get a site on the way home so that is what we did. Bumped into OAT there. That will be the first person i have met from the group big_smile Pleasure to meet you OAT. Seen you later on in Peebles also. You were coming off the roundabout at M&S garage as we were turning on it lol

Its a great wee site. A friend recommended it to us. Apparently you also spoke to her OAT. Ruth with a big white Convoy with a few coloured leaves on the side. She has a kid with long blond hair.
As soon as i drove up the main drag Ken i recognised the van. Its the only pop top i know off.

Re: Camp sites

What happened to us starting a private group to share awesome parkup/private places? lol I'm sure that was discussed somewhere, I mean, I can setup a forum like this and make it invite only, possibly? I work in hosting so it's all free smile

Re: Camp sites

A google maps custom map thing might be the easiest answer

Re: Camp sites

hmm i am not sure how to set up a custom google map thing.. but i have a few places around my area that i would add to it.
one site that i frequent to is £6 per person, no limitations on vehicles, no pitch size or layout or arrangement, and it has basic on site facilities with waste disposal point..

ill look up how to get one of these custom maps off the ground. we could have it as a sticky maybe?

Re: Camp sites

There is a Facebook page for folk to share sites that are under a tenner. Nice idea but the owners turn off chat what is a tad crap as i would like to know what is around the area, public transport into a town and the likes.

Not convinced myself TBH. Its taking traffic away from the forum what i would think is crap for Tiree. I have enjoyed this forum over the years and now i once again find myself without a Expert/scudo/dispatch but still pop in now and then. Be kind of crap if you are all posting on some little dark corner of the net somewhere. Probably once the forum software is upgraded then PM will be available so sharing your dogging spots in private will be a lot easier big_smile

I'm not against it happening on here either.  But the fact the whole board is public makes it hard.  If a single part  of the board or a sub-forum, was a member only area and not public it would make it easier to do something like this and keep it on the board.  I'm not so bothered about PM.  This place is a breath of fresh air not having PMs enabled.  I would rather just have a private members only area that can be used for wild camp sites and maybe forum meets.

I work in hosting, could help with having  proper private thing where we share private spots heh..and some sort of vetting/donation process or something to keep out the bad ones lol.
