Fuel Crisis

What Crisis? Naw i do mean that. Any of you lot had bother? W/E before last we had the Friday morning panic with the town OAP's but apart from that all we had was a run out of Diesel for 12 hours a week later but being Tesco a truck was soon along. Next day i had to go to Glasgow to pick up a mate off a train and away to Greenock to buy a camper. (Around 200 mile round trip) I filled up on the way there on the motorway service station as my thinking was that will never have a queue. I was right, only myself and another van. Picked mate up and seen big queues in Glasgow and all the way to Greenock. Luck the camper he bought had a half tank to got back to Harthill services and filled up again. Back to my town and both garages running as normal for the rest of the week.
This past Weekend i had to go to Wishaw. During the week and trip out i used half my tank so decided to fill up again at Harthill Services on the way home. Feeling smug as we never had fuel issues while others are suffering i got up this morning to go to my first customer of the week. My smugness lasted till the first corner. Bloody turbo spat the dummy

All fueled up and no where to go. Bloody Karma for laughing at them lot in the long queues  tongue

Re: Fuel Crisis

Tesco has been keeping me well stocked with veg oil, I've felt pretty smug  tongue

But yea, I've heard people have first hand issues. Up in the North (of England!) it lasted a few days but it's back to normal now

Just heard from work though that it's still manic in London. My heart bleeds.

Re: Fuel Crisis

Not sure if my Maxus takes Veg Oil. I should look into that as its the work van what i use most. Pump is a simple Bosch thing what i think would be OK. Might try when the summer kicks in as i have a spare pump.

Re: Fuel Crisis

Euro 4 sounds far too modern to run on veg, I'm guessing that's a high pressure pump for a common rail fuel system

Its the same pump that is in the Euro3 but has a fuel metering valve on it as well as the fuel rail. That is the part that worries me. Ill look at the Biodiesel forums later and see. My Euro 4 Convoy apparently cant (Mk6 Transit Engine) But that being the camper will never be used for big miles so it would be no real saving anyway.

Re: Fuel Crisis

I always keep the van full of fuel and packed.
It's my 'bug out' vehicle for zombie apocalypse, civil disorder, alien invasion etc
