Bike Rally

Few bikers here or ex. Anyone do Thunder In The Glen? I just booked for the first time. No bloody interest in Harleys but its meant to be a good crack. Taking the bike you may ask, Hell no. My back dont like tents no more so booked a camp site down the road for two nights. TITG is over three nights and my ticket offers free camping also so may take the tent for the Sunday if we are enjoying ourselves that much. 26th August 2022 for three nights in Aviemore if anyone is interested. No campers as last two years cancelled ralleys get priority. This is why i booked the camp site early

Re: Bike Rally

Sounds great, but unfortunately no bike any more. Last bike was a Honda Super(wet)dream 35 years ago.     cool     smile

Only bike I use these days got pedals on.

Re: Bike Rally

I've done WozWolf before now, but my days of riding are on hold for a bit.  Would like to do an overland trip some day, maybe to Vladivostok or Magadan and do the Road of Bones.  But that's for when I hit about 55.  I was a Varadero rider in a past life.  Always wanted a Vstrom, but it never happened.

Re: Bike Rally

Did a few over the years in Germany and Holland. Never been to keen on UK ones and this is my first since storming the castle back on the 90's.  I still have my Rat project to build up. Got all the parts just now the time nor inclination just now. I was looking at BMW's the other night as you can get a nice R1100GS with full luggage from £2500. Seen a minter with only 33k on the clock for 2700 in black. Service history and almost showroom. Had i not has so much engine trouble with the work van i would have that in my shed now.

Re: Bike Rally

I was pretty much forced into it by my mate from Uni.  The best part of the last meet was the Old Peculiar on tap.  Apart from that it was a bunch of middle aged 'criminal type' bike gang members (from many bike clubs) with big stomachs and an inability to hold their liquor.  Not really my cup of tea.  Abroad is much nicer and the people are usually more interesting.

It been many many yrs since I was at a rally IIRC it was the antler in Ardnamurchan.....................
Like you No real intrest in Harley's................[ And I've got to or past that age ... maybe I should think of an Enfield ... Worryingly I do like their Hymalian]

My only real concern is how if your not in the harley fold they tend to ignore you and they especially hate you if your a ricer

Big thing is Euroland is the smell of wee bikes and by no means do they think they are any better  than anyone else. Most of the guys i know with one are in there local bike clubs rather than dedicated HD ones what is nice just some of the names of teh clubs are a tad odd. Death Rebels for one big_smile They are just east of Dortmund in a small village. Its that small if they have a ride out the village is deserted big_smile
