Roof Rack Brackets

Need to raise mine and add a couple for support as my awning rails will need to be attached to the sides. Anyone with access to metal and a metal bending machine who could make me 8 brackets? Metal would need to take the weight of whatever an average roof rack takes  big_smile Not rust in the first year.

Geez a price if you can with postage to Scotland and you would need to be able to take payment via paypal.

Brackets are like this

I just realized that I have on my van a camper type but sort of wider than a pinstripe stripe in dark silver

how about

Type thing in silver, grey, yellow or a lighter blue........ or you already been there and discounted that sort of thing.......................

Re: Roof Rack Brackets

Ah i thought you meant the wavy line like the one in the link. That would work also but by problem is not having all that plastic running along the middle of the doors. That breaks the panels up nicely. Ill have a good look through that next pay day and get something as they are keenly priced.

Saw this  and thought it might fit the bill if you haven't already  put something on van...... I'm sure you could inquire for your preferred colour and no doubt at that price it could be jiggled to fit.

I quite like that cheers. That one might be a goer as i keep going through the other links iems and cant decide what to buy but i do like that one. I think silver or grey would be the only choice on a dark blue motor. Im also looking for cheap logos if you have a link to anything, i am also thinking of getting one made up TinTent but everyone wants silly money as they need to be about 6-8 inch tall.

I'll keep an eye out....It's I guess what you want decal wise

If it's as you say needs to be laser cut specially it can get pricey...... Do a local search of your area for the likes of van livery (sign writers type)...... Ive found in past it can be priced competitively when lettering up a van/truck ...... I did once get T-shirt print shop to do some decals, But they did the likes photo cups and name tag decals for your helmet, panniers and bike ETC........ I've in the past measured the panel (Door or quarter) and used a generic logo like compass dial or whatever and got a bunch of letters and numbers.... I.E. Number plate size and smaller (different font)

We did this about ten yrs ago with an ExG.P.O. van.... which we used as a bit of a dog runabout and general duties ....... didn't want it liveried as complaints to council bringing works vehicles home and didn't want it looking plain old ExG.P.O. either
So after a quick buff up and as the lads at yard called it "Pat"...... I think we stuck on 3 compass dial stickers and then put something like 18PAT4/5D ..........IIRC

Nobody knew what it meant (neither do I)..... It never got questioned as a works van when taken home....... and didn't look out of sorts in the work place either

Maybe that sort of thing could work for you  .......... "Euro discoverer"..... "Junior Globe Trotter"

and

Re: Roof Rack Brackets

I ended up ordering this in silver

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/VAN-GRAPHICS- … aiIED3RRkQ

Reason being i can have the large on running along the bottom and a smaller one in the rear panel where a window should be then i have some left to fill other areas. See what i can do with the bonnet for instance.

Yeah Vaz. I had already fired a couple of e mails out to local sign writers as a couple to vinyl for vans yet to hear back. Also you other link
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Custom-Boat-N … 2291575602

Awaiting to hear back from them also.

Getting there. Gt the large zig zig still to put on and the TinTent logo. Led Zeppelin's swan song on the bonnet and i may put the words above the windscreen. The stickers are surprisingly easy to put on but ill not be to smug as no doubt ill make an arse of the large one smile Vaz i doubt you can zoom in but the ghost is in bottom right windscreen.

Don't think you made an Arse of it the Van looks fine to me and don't think you'll have a problem at Hull...... If it's the same as last time I sailed from there security will have a good sniff about it and see it's not just a van....And your right I can see him but can't quite fully make out your ghost

I'm starting getting our van ready for MOT, service and a right good clean N scrub up for our September trip..... Got a busted windscreen about 6/8 weeks ago, I thought no more than use the local man (he's put 3 screens in 306 in last 5 yrs) ..... But NO ..... motor-home insurance co. want some national crew to do it ....... have to wait 10 days for them to come from timbok one or somewhere, ....weather dependent they said ......FFFFFFFFFF'SSSSS

Unlike you we still haven't decided what sailing yet, but Newhaven - Dieppe is looking favorite ....... Weird thing , I lived in Lewes about 10 mls or so from Newhaven.... for about 15 yrs and only sailed out of there once .... think it was transmanche link then and was a real tub of a boat.........still badged up as transmanche I think.....was told DFDS bought them.......

Re: Roof Rack Brackets

There is a couple of creases and the other side is worse as that was my trial run. Fine at a distance but it was the crease that runs along the van that threw me and being at an angle did not help.

Last time i crossed down south was the 90's. Portsmouth - Le Havre. seemed a civilised enough crossing at just over an hour i think it was. What was crap is i did a straight drive down and on boat. After relaxing on the boat when we got off i had to drive again to find accommodation. I ended up sleeping in the car in some supermarket car park. Vowed never again

Re: Roof Rack Brackets

Me too but back in the 80's & 90's sailed (Truckline Ferries) Portsmouth-Caen and for some reason the times they sent me out that way I came back Le Havre- Portsmouth......Your memory's failing you either that you went to the Isle of White  tongue    .........   Caen or Le LeHave from Portsmouth sailings are about 6 and 8 hrs respectively  IIRC.......

BTW ....You've got the roof bars nice N low ...I find I get next to no wind noise off roof box since I lowered it

P.S your second lot of photos have vanished now is it me right enough........

Re: Roof Rack Brackets

Your right. I must be thinking of my Dover crossing as Portsmouth was on the bike.

The low roof bars r not my doing. They came with the van. I have two front to back bars yet to fit as i have a roof bag rather than box. I came across two as new bags in the box for £20 when looking for a box. The base is 84cm x84 so needed front to back for support and extra strapping rails.

Think the picture problem is your end. I have changed nothing here.

Re: Roof Rack Brackets

Interested in how the roof bag does as that's what I originally set out to look for, just the kind you strap to the roof...even without bars, although we didn't desperately need the extra luggage space in the 306, It was always the return from her fathers in Vigo with a couple boxes wine and a brace of clothes for grand-kids and that sort of crap.... Ended up with the box instead .. Got the pukka 306 roof bars and never used it in the end....... On the van it looks after table, chairs, extra water, dirty washing bag and that sort of stuff you need but not every five mins........

On picture front ......this is about 3rd time I've installed windows 10 ....... last couple times couldn't find do/anything  but this time I'm persevering .......still can find F... all, maybe Ive blocked something......... Progress  hmm ....... still getting the hang of windows 98.......................
