Re: Decent weather??

I think it rains pretty much everywhere for the next week or so.  So I wouldn't go too far for now.  In a couple of weeks it might change.

Re: Decent weather??

Stay well away from D&G unless you like torrential rain and intermittent gales with intervals of low cloud.
Two days non stop and more to come.

Although I enjoy it so long as warm and dry.  (keeps the tourists away.  smile)

Re: Decent weather??

Just had a Long weekend up Applecross, Kyle of Lochalsh and Oban area and had 90% rain. Dry when i wet to the pub though but always started to rain when driving. Went down to see the Rest And Be Thankful road on the way home and it must have been the only time we seen sun until we got to Loch Lomond and it was a biblical storm mixed with pea soup.

Think it was Vaz who posted up a picture of his van at Rest and Be Thankful when i first joined he group and i said at the time i must visit that. Glad i got the chance now. Stunning

Re: Decent weather??

Damn, I need to get back to the Highlands. I went to Ben Nevis in August with my niece and nephew and they didn't want to stick around while we were up there  sad

Guy on the LDV facebook page was telling me you can get a chairlift up Ben Nevis now. Is that right?

Re: Decent weather??

The last time that I was up near The Rest and be Thankful they were repairing the massive land slip there.

Didnt go away as Cumbria and SW Scotland looked a bit too wet

Half way up I think.

But just wait a few years, it won't be long before they reduce to another Snowdon.

Re: Decent weather??

You got me curious:-

Nevis Range in Fort William is home to the UK’s only Mountain Gondola, transporting visitors to 650m on the mountain of Aonach Mor.
The journey to the Gondola Top Station takes around 15 minutes giving visitors ample opportunity to take in the stunning scenery of the surrounding lochs and glens.
At the Top Station there are two, clearly signposted, walks to mountain viewpoints. On a clear day this view can extend as far as the Inner Hebrides.

Adult Gondola: £19.50 per booking
Child Gondola: £11 per booking
Family (2+2): £51 per booking
Senior/ Student: £16.50 per booking

.

With a restaurant & bar and no doubt an exit through the gift shop.

Re: Decent weather??

Yea I went up that last year, it's not actually Ben Nevis in any way, it's just a random mountain in the area
