Well that lasted all of 7 months!!!!

Been running my ac on regular occasions to keep seals lubricated. Turned the ac on on Wednesday - nothing! Light comes on with switch, but nothing running at all. Pressed valve quickly under bonnet. Pressure in there, but whether it's enough I can't tell. Checked a few fuses.

Hmm. Here we go again!    sad

any update on this? was the compressor kicking in?

i have been a bit weird with mine.. i have put the AC clutch on a switch via a timed relay (so no "hot" or high pressure restarts) which is fed from the brake light switch.
so when i lightly press the brake the lights come on and so does the AC compressor. its more of a thing to see how it works for now, but back in the summer i found that a long hill i commute down, i never needed to touch the brakes when i had the AC on but with it off i did. so i kinda have a little more engine braking. just seeing how well it works..  keep the seals good through winter.

i wish i had space for a second alternator.. hmm

Words of wisdom: Internally rust proof the sills and subframe! both skins!!. There's always user serviceable parts inside. "Oh that shouldn't have happened".

Re: Air Conditioning! retro fitting, questions, and tips

well my aircon has failed.. the system has no pressure. i suspect the flexible hoses have gone porous. that assumption has been backed up by the fact that halfords "top up" bottles contain a UV dye.. and when shining a uv torch in the engine bay, the aircon hoses light up like a florescent tube.

hmm i am highly tempted to remake all of the flexible pipes out of copper.  i know the rubber seals are good as i replaced them all, even the main shaft seal in the compressor.

on another note i have finally managed to acquire the very hard to get pollen filter housings! my local pick and pull scrap yard had a Peugeot 806 in. the engine was removed sadly but the scuttle panel was still intact along with the prize hidden underneath.
(just to note Taxi scrap yards with the E7 EuroCab will have them too!)

i instantly fit them to my van when i got back. heres the photos:
