Single to bench seat

Hi all I'm buying a 2004 Expert to make a mini camper out of but I need 3 seats. It currently has 2 singles in it. Can I just swap it for a bench out? Is there a list of other cars the that would fit straight in or does anyone know if later model bench seats fit? Ps I have searched in the search function and can't really find any definite answer.  Thanks in advance

I also asked in parts section I hope. That ok.

Re: Single to bench seat

I am sure i read that the later 07 on van seats use the same seat mount holes. Last i looked ebay was awash with the vans being broken. Here is a not bad scudo set. Obviously postage may be an issue but if you happen to live close to a breakers yard then bonus.

Re: Single to bench seat

Can confirm the 07> seats fit. Getting the old seats out can be far more difficult than you might envisage. The bolts for some reason go straight out through the bottom of the floor and therefore corrode quite a bit. Would get underneath and clean the bolts showing underneath as best as possible first, and then remove the actual seat from the frame giving you much better access to the bolt heads holding the frame to the floor, before stripping them from trying to wiggle tools in under the seat at an awkward angle and trying to turn a stiff corroded bolt.

I just took the seats off the frames and swapped them over, leaving the original frame bolted to the floor. That is only 6x M8 nuts on each seat which are super easy to do.

You can’t do that on the passenger side when switching between single and double as they are different (but same mounting points).

Re: Single to bench seat

Hi all again so I've finally got around to trying to fit the 07 plate double seat into my 04. Couple of issues the bolts alignment all look like they indeed will fit exept the arm rest in the driver's seats stops the get over far enough. Did you guys remove the arm rest?
Second issue is there is no belt buckle ie original seat had it bolted to seat. New one doesn't and can't work out where one would be. Would it have been on the driver's seat in a mk 2? Ta

Re: Single to bench seat

Mine came with a separate seat buckle. It mounts into the same bolt the driver's side bolts into at the back, the big thick one

You have a single in yours currently yeah? So you won't have run into the arm rest issue?

Re: Single to bench seat

Actually I did when I temporarily fitted the double in the passenger side. I also had to take off the plastic surround on the side of the seat, including the backrest tilt lever.

The armrest just unclips on mine, not sure how easy it is on yours.

Re: Single to bench seat

Oh brilliant thanks I'll see if it just unclips. Is your driver's seat a mk1 or mk2?

Re: Single to bench seat

Driver's seat is actually out of a Citroen Synergie so might be less relevant. What driver's side do you have that has an armrest?

Re: Single to bench seat

Mine is the original but I've just bought another one out of a mk1 the arm rest is on the left side side so sqeezed between the driver and passenger seat.
