Re: Moniaive Michaelmas Bluegrass Festival September 23rd-25th

Another years grace from the MOT gods today so I am now definately going to make it.

Hope to see some of you up there.  Right in the middle of Ricco country.  wink

Tickets now on sale for main venues and for camping only.

Apart from the ticketed main venues there is lots of varied free music in numerous pubs, cafes, barns, etc around the village.

Low key, quiet, family friendly event but still plenty going on.

Moniaive is situated in Dumfries & Galloway in South-West Scotland. It is on the A702 about 8 miles from Thornhill and 17 miles from Dumfries (via the B729).

4 nights camping £15 per person - Single night £5

Camping:

Camping Only tickets are available for single or multiple nights
A Camping Only or Weekend With Camping ticket requires to be purchased for every person who will be camping
The campsite will be open from noon on Thursday 22 September until noon on Monday 26 September

Re: Moniaive Michaelmas Bluegrass Festival September 23rd-25th

Hi Oat and all.

Just logged on specially to see if anyone else was going to Moniaive and you can definitely count me in. I'm not too bothered about the organised events, so will just get weekend camping ticket. Will be good to see old and new faces up there though. To be honest it's not really my kind of music but it's the best camping weekend I've been on in a long time and wouldn't miss it for the world. I even bumped into a local friend of mine who had his Banjo with him and he got a friend to play the duelling banjos with him for me.

See y'all there.

Visiting a friend in the North East on the 23rd (Tantobie) and the 24th there is meant to be a North East meet with our LDV Group here

https://www.bradleyburn.co.uk/index.php

If looking for sites for meets we tend to do the middle of the country as you are never going to please everyone. People lower that say London or North of the Lothians are always going to have to drive more but we tend to book here

https://www.willowfieldscamping.co.uk/accommodations/

or here

https://www.facebook.com/pages/category … 891118834/

Both are cheap and easy going. Raised fire pits and BBQ's allowed. Late low music allowed but never been bothered if it was getting to loud. Basic toilet blocks but its a hot shower and somewhere to poop sitting down rather than squat big_smile

Hahaha,

That takes the biscuit, Tantobie is about 10 minutes away from my place.
But seriously, Moniaive wins hands down every time and 15 quid for all weekend camping?

I'll be well up for a DispatchExpertScudo meetup, came to Monaive a few years ago, had a great time

So far sounds like we have OAT, GRIFFIN and Tiree. Casper it sounds like you're required elsewhere?

Count me in, coming with a friend too

It'll be good to see you all again, looking forward to it.
Although I may have to steel the Ladder off your back door Ken, while you are in the pub.

Looking forward to the weekend.

Hey if the ladder were to disappear while I wasn't looking I'd be thrilled, I'll get a better view out the back door

I would gladly swap you for my blue Scudo back door but unfortunately it's a slightly lighter blue than yours sad

Arrived, not seen any other DispatchExpertScudos so I've parked myself at the corner of the second field - basically as far away from the campsite entrance as you can get

Nah. Dono where you heard that one tongue

Three vans, two tents and a caravan and that was it. The Freeloaders car park was chocked but surprisingly quiet but then the temperature has dropped during the night so after playing in the loch all day they were probably to cold to sit out drinking.

I take it you have been over this way before.

Took my big old bus that way today. The decent down to Talla Reservoir was interesting  yikes

JYes, quite impressive for the "lowlands"!

The car parks used to be free camping too.  Now fiver a night if the warden can be bothered.

Great time at the festival, and absolutely no cowboys or line dancing.  smile

Hoping Ken might have some pics to post?

Had a great time and it was nice to see the vans together. Got a couple of piccies here, alas I've chopped of both of your vans' outhouses roll
