Waste veg oil

Morning all, finally managed to log on. Casper was telling me that a member on here was running WVO , I used it in my last van because that had the Bosch pump. This one (55) has the Lucas. I’ve been told that oil kills these pumps anything over a 70/30 mix. I’d like to know your experience.

Re: Waste veg oil

I run straight veg oil and have done for 3 years now, but that's in my Bosch pump van

I did run my old Lucas on biodiesel to limited success, I think you'd get away with 50:50 but it's hard to know for sure

I don't think anyone on the forum runs a Lucas on veg oil

Not pure no. I was under the impression you ran yours on a mix with the Lucas pump but unsure the percentage

Re: Waste veg oil

Neat new veg oil for me, and I think Ken too most of the time.   Not now though, it's dearer than diesel.

Only a splosh of diesel when freezing.  Mine will still start on veg in the frost but the chugging is awful.

Re: Waste veg oil

Yea it's crap that veg oil is so expensive. I'd go for WVO if I could trust it to be clean

Re: Waste veg oil

I’m sort of looking for a Bosch pump, bloody dear though . I did have a good supplier of clean WVO I did 1000s of miles in the last van. According to a faceache group I’m on anything over 30/70 and the pump will crap out. Only other option is a twin tank set up, but looks expensive and a real faf to sort out. Hmmmm

Re: Waste veg oil

Is said supplier still doing his thing? With prices what they are it wouldn't be worth it if your plan is to fall back on SVO

I’m not sure as I haven’t spoken to him since going back to diesel. You are right new oil is far too expensive now. In the good old days I was paying 28p per L at Aldi ?
