2006 JTD Alternator Replacement - No Start/Odd Plugs

Hi all,

Replaced an alternator on a 2006 Scudo JTD - 56 plate so last of the facelift I think. Has AC if that is important to this (not sure).

I took it off some time ago, then the weather got cold and he was in no rush for it back so I sat on it for a bit. Finally put it all back together today and while it cranks over no problem (the battery light behaves - on with ignition and goes out after a few seconds of cranking), it doesn't start. I cracked the feed pipe from the diesel pump to the rail and diesel is coming out so I'm thinking that the pump(s) are working correctly... however even after quite a few tries there isn't so much as a cough from the engine, just turning over. Engine sounds healthy, oil pressure light goes off, everything turning as it should etc etc. Got an EML on the dash as well - suggesting ECU is awake. Fully charged battery too.

While reassembling I was presented with this plug and ring on the end of a blue wire that I don't have a home for - no obvious place or sockets unpopulated - diesel filter has the plug in it still:

I think I've got the right one in the alternator (alternator has 1 stud for B+ and one 2 pin plug) - the plug going in the alternator has only one wire and the fact the dash light is working as expected suggests I'm right.

Am I missing a home for those plug/ring and is that why it's not starting? If not - is there a fuel pump relay I need to be checking perhaps?

Any help appreciated.

Thanks.
