Injector problem?

Hi I've owned a 2006 Dispatch for years but recently i got in after a week and it started fine but sounded extremely rough within a second of it starting up (loud clattering which is worse on revving and just doesn't go away). I'll be honest as its a work van I've not spent enough time on routine maintenance.

A bit of googling suggests it might be the injectors although i'm not sure. The area on the block across all four is incredibly wet and dirty and so it wouldn't surprise me. Before i pass it to the garage and spend an arm and a leg on a 17 year old van, i thought i'd try cleaning up the area, removing the injectors, cleaning them up and fitting new seals. This is however the first time i've touched the injectors and so i'm slightly concerned about making things worse. I've removed the dreaded manifold before when i changed the glow plugs a few years ago.

Does anyone know if there is a guide anywhere or indeed a video (i've seen the one about changing glow plugs). Or does anyone have any useful tips how to go about removing the injectors and whether I'll need to bleed them (and how that is done as i've not done that before). Any tips will be appreciated.

Re: Injector problem?

I'd be more inclined to believe it's ERG valve, incredibly simple ratification (isolation)- test to be sure

Thanks. Happy to try anything. Is that the test pulling off the 2 vacuum pipes?

Re: Injector problem?

ok. So i checked the egr with the vacuum pipes off and it didn't make any difference at all.

So i thought i'd move on to removing and cleaning up/changing seals in the injectors. I have the inlet manifold off but now a little unsure as to the process. Does anyone have a guide or advice to removing the injectors. Thanks
