Weights

Now im not saying my basic conversion will be overweight by any means
A simple kitchen unit uses one sheet of plywood which i have (all be it in bits ) but its 18 mm  and weighs in at 33kg
Bed made from 75 x 55mm  and 75x18 mm  plus a cooker sink  waste and fresh water  a leisure battery (large)  and the initial paneling

has anyone done a before and after  weigh in ?

will the lowly 1.9 go up hills after this ?

Re: Weights

I weighed mine in once on a weighbridge post-conversion: 1710kg. This was with some hefty shelving (including 18mm plywood) and all the tins and water, battery etc

Re: Weights

It looked like this at the time, although I've since had a remodel. Also worth mentioning that I've got the 1.9TD which I gather is about 100kg heavier than the 1.9D

Re: Weights

Delboy have a look at my interior on some of my first posts on the forum .........................
it would surpise you what weight your carrying about in apparently an empty van..........................
My bed is on a metal frame all be it square tubing and it's a 1.9 non turbo ..................
Although van is slow it keeps up with traffic and on occasions I'll drop a gear going up hill and Ive had it to spain [more than once] and just into Portugal. ..................

Thanks! Self made from blackout fabric. I went through a few iterations but I wanted one like what trucks have that have one curtain all the way round the cab

Re: Weights

I've never weighed mine, but calculated the weight as I built it.  Added about 200-250kg from the build materials.  I should probably weigh mine at some point, but it was a pretty minimal build.  The heaviest items inside were the brick shithouse level bed, weighs around 30-40kg at a guess, but I can pick it up, made from wood. The AGM battery i used which weighs about 40kg and probably the solar panel on the roof.  The floor panels I don't know, but 18mm marine ply, so not light.  The rest is oddments like the cooler, the day to day stuff (cutlery, pots/pans, bottles of water, etc), plus electrics stuff, toilet, etc.

Re: Weights

ive never weighed mine but i do have a tip on how to get the vehicles weight and maybe a little bit of cash too..

find some scrap, any bit.. then take it to a scrap yard with a weigh bridge. they weigh your vehicle when you go in, then when you come out and you get both weighs. take it in with all tanks filled like water and waste and you have your vehicle weight big_smile

i work in a scrap yard and ive never done it..  yet...
