all or any belts snap, if tensioners get worn, twisty and tense. As you had belt replaced, I bet nobody checked tensioners loaded up, hence the noise and possibly alternator is jamming little bit.
Also, might sound like old aunts talk- the belts vary in quality.
Don't think, that even the belt snapped, if it somehow got to Timing Belt (TB) set up, but if to sort out alternator belt, few places get exposed to check TB in all... and if you get to replace TB, make sure kit includes water pump...

It's hard these days to find decent mechanic for this sort of diagnostics, it literally is matter of finding knowledgeable and honest one or take it to sDealers or French car specialists for a hour of diagnostic work to be sure you aren't going to be taken in circles by monkey wrenches

I know a good citoren mechanic he looked after me in the past but he really busy last guy said sell it spares and repairs but it's only done 130000 miles and I know from reading this forum it still has many more to go I noticed on this forum the yellow warning light with the k says a problem with the fuel injectors are possibly ignition system just wondering if that would cause a louder engine noise if that was the root of the problem thanks for the reply appreciated

hmm we can rule out power not getting to the ECU (these 1.9D vans will run without the ECU even connected, they just smoke a little)
my advice is get it on a code reader. its showing a fault code has been stored with the engine management light lit up. that code will tell you whats wrong.
does the van smoke at all?

you could check the little inertia switch which i think is around the power steering bottle somewhere. sometimes belts go with a bang, enough to trip the switch.

bit of useless info but the "K" symbol is actually the electrical schematic symbol for a transistor.

get the code read, and tell us what it says big_smile
