I want a basic (when I say basic I mean a 2nd battery to charge small things, run a couple usb's, a socket, a few lights and my stereo) install.
I know this has been written about a lot over the years but I really can't pluck up the courage to have a go myself but cant afford to spend too much. Does anyone have someone they could recommend to do this? Im happy to travel but Im in North west london so the closer the better obviously.

One wire from your front/main battery live to your leisure battery. Earth your leisure to the van floor/side then add fag lighters for usb and lights. Not great detail but this is my blog what touches on what i did for little money

I admire your confidence and posts. i quickly scanned it and noticed you used a 2nd stereo in the back. Any reason why? I was hoping I could run my music through my stereo on my dash.
Either way I'll continue my research. I still need a little more convincing when it comes to poking wires in tubes.

When i go away to Holland/Germany at the end of the month i will be stationary for two nights. I dont want to run the risk of running low the main battery hence the 2nd stereo. OK a stereo wont take much power but added to Charging and lights i thought for the sake of 17/18 quid i may as well install another. Also if on the back on your bed its easier to turn off
Mate honestly its all easy to fit. One step at a time or write a plan/wire diagram first. She you were not closer as i would help out, You do the work and ill keep an eye on your work.

Would you happen to know if any wheel (alloy) measuring 215 65 15 will fit a 54 plate dispatch? Iv heard wheels off an alfa fit but Iv also seen the Peugeot 807 wheel look like they have the same spec and now iv come across Kia/land rover.

Not got a clue about alloys but i got this from the Fiat forum as you know the Scudo is the same van
hi after much searching just to say pdc and centre bore 5x98 and 58.1` with 30 offset it appears fiat ulysses up to 2002 ,citroen synergie and peugeot 806 all have same characteristics and good thing oem alloys look
Unsure what he used but im sure vaz2121 has put alloys on his. Im sure he will be along soon enough to tell you what they are off.

I assume with the tyre size your van is already fitted with 15" steel wheels......... The Alloys on my van are after market (can't remember make ) .....
The wheel fitment that Casper posted looks correct from memory ............ 807 wheels I think are all 16" and would need something like a 205/55/16
The Land Rover and Kia wheels will have wrong PCD so won't fit
you might find this useful
whatever alloys you buy just make sure to use correct wheel bolt and don't assume steel wheel nuts/bolts will do

BTW msmith. This is how simple it is to install the split charge in the link
The three red wires from the fuse box i have one powering the lights and lights earthed on the van body. One powering the USB/Power sockets and earthed on van body and another powering a 2nd stereo. You dont have to have the fuse box. You just need to put a fuse on the live wire to each items. The fuse box just keeps thing neat.
The red wire brom battery to split charge and the wire from split charge to leisure battery should have a fuse. These are provided with the kit and so it full instructions. Go for it.

Msmith: I've just put a set of peugeot 807 16 inch alloys on my 2003 expert. They currently have 215/60/16 tyres on which make them a little close to the arches on the rear but fine at the front. I do believe that the 807 came with either 15 inch or 16 inch I believe. So should both fit. Like Vaz212 says check your wheel studs too.

Cheers but the 897 are actually 15inchers and are advertised as 215/65/R15, i assume because my Dispatch is 205/65/15R they won't fit?

Thanks again, looking at this its hard to see why I wouldn't do it myself! You think just getting one of the standards kits or the individual components is the way to go?

Ok another question. Do you have any experience with adjusting the infamous side doors? As in removing the top runner arm and housing, potentially giving it a little bend or sinching in to take away the gap that a lot of people seem to be suffering from?

That diagram is for the one i linked you. Other split charge systems want a wire from the relay to the alternator so keep it simple.
The door. Bending the runner does nothing. Think about the arm position when the door is shut. it would run outwards so waist of time. You could add washers under the three bottom bolts what will push the top in slightly but 9 times out of 10 its the middle runner. Open door and grab bottom and lift, drop a few time. Much movement? if se get to teh scrap yard and wiggle a few till you find a good un. Just unbolt from door and lift out the runner. I also stuck this round the door

Place it on the door side and try and get seal to meet the existing one. I had water getting in also but new middle hinge and this cured it. I also wont need the sliding door on the drivers side so i locked it and diconected the locks and central locking system and sealed it up with silicon.

I was going to put in power but decided the not to bother as i am not keeping this van long and was on a budget. I just got one of these for when i am at camp sights

On the inside you want a fusebox and then wire your lights, plugs etc to the fuse box. <<< That is simplifying things but i like the simple route but look into it more before starting a project like this.
Your 12v system. No you wont need a fuse for each light. I have four on the same circuit and one 20amp fuse covering them all so one goes they all go but a fuse one each then one goes only one goes. Just when buying wire if your stereo or lights or whatever wants say 20amps make sure you bought thick enough wire. This guy sells lots of grades and fixings

That split charge in your link. Im sure that is the one that wants a wire to the alternator. You just running a few lights a stereo and few USB then the one in my link is good enough and half the price.

BTW. Inverter will turn your 12v into 240 but you can overdo that and risk draining your battery fast.

No. I am saying you can get a 12v to 240 inverter but it will drain the battery quick You can buy a battery charger/booster pack with one built in also and it has USB slots.
You want a leisure battery to run simple items just get the split charge i linked and wire up as i showed in diagram.
You want fridge, 36" TV, microwave then plumb in mains like i mention or do it simple and just buy the 4 gang socket like i linked from GO Outdoors.
BTW what you using the van for? The odd weekend away in GB or a week or more and Euro trips?

Msmith: Didn't affect the insurance at all, just advised that alloy wheels are fitted and that they are peugeot wheels not after market.
They are snug on the rear, but got some clearance. I'll try take some pictures from the inner of the wheels. The fronts aren't as close and have plenty of room.
