Anyone converted Mk1 to Mk2

I have a Mk1 Expert, just wondered how much hassle it is to put the newer mk2 lights and front on ...great site,

If your taking MK1 to MK1 face lift .... I would say doable

but if your talking full on MK1 to Mk2 .... No ...... Two entirely different vans

I was presuming the new MK2 model grafted on the old MK1. Forgot about the face lift what may be harder than he thinks. The front bodywork under the bumper grill etc will differ also to hold fatter lights and bonnet strike is further forwards. This would be welded in place making the whale task more hassle than its worth.

I have also considered modding my van this way 'facelift front end without the ugly dodgem wrap around bumper body panels on the facelift' would make a better looking van in my opinion.

It maybe more hassle than its worth, but i don't think its a big task if you consider the wings are the same, and until now i thought the front panel was too? So if you were to source lights bonnet front bumper and grill at the right money jobs a good un!

I will report back if i ever get it done, but i'm pretty sure the lights bolt straight on once the grill is removed

Im not convinced its going to be straight forward. If the front valance or whatever its called removes by bolt to assist engine removal then i may be surprised lol

Yes were on the same hymn sheet mate, the top of the headlight is in the exact same position where it meets the grill on both models trust me.
The bonnet bulge throws the perspective a bit

Hmm, Next time im at the scrap yard im going to do some closer inspection and get the measuring tape out. More i look the more you are sounding correct. I had an early Escort van years afo and they came out with a face lift of that. The bonnet latch just like this face lift sat higher, all ford did was use a longer latch

So a bit of luck all you want is Grill, Bonnet, lamps and bumper. Sound easy yikes

A spares or repeair van would be the only option i reckon, headlights £100 a piece yikes you can buy a 55 plate non runner for £300!

You must have crap scrap yards. I think i could have that lot for £100-150 max up our end. A went with a friend to scrap an old Fiesta £5 is all he got when a couple of years ago i got £125 for a 306 from the same yard so the scrap man is making a good profit so dont be scared to haggle.

I agree Using parts off the MPV's is bound to bring more "up market" options rather than only a commercial version .......

I'm with you on this..... Popped the bonnet on my mates van (03 Scudo) and it looks the same under there as mine (05 Dispatch) (Didn't measure anything though)

I think lights, bonnet, grill, bumper can't be far off the mark, also it came to mind that a mix N match from all three versions might work

Now that Synergie option may be the cheaper unless you want a colour coded bumper. It looks like lights and grill should be enough. Cant make it out but it looks like the trim under the lights and round the indicators are part if the grill.

Yes crap scrap yards here in coventry and surrounding areas, there used to be some fantastic ones, little gold mines!
But I think the new law introduced about 20 years ago which demanded hard standing sites finished them off sad

Oh aye. Make a test template first to make sure you could angle the wheel out. That is a nice looking front bumper i must admit. Shame my van is blue.

It's just a pic of the front end found on google that i have planned mate, i've not sourced one yet.

Aye the rear arch ain't straight forward but doable i think, luckily hubs are bolted and not studs
