Clock continually adjusts on '56 Dispatch

Hi - bizarre occurence while driving along this afternoon; our clock suddenly started behaving as though the adjust button was being held in.  No amount of jiggling of the button would stop it, & it carried on with the ignition turned off.  Removing fuse 6 (Courtesy light - instrument panel - audio equipment) stopped it, but it started again as soon as the ignition was turned on.

Any suggestions please?  If it can't be cured, stopping the clock altogether would be fine.  It goes without saying that I don't fancy taking the dash apart . . .

Re: Clock continually adjusts on '56 Dispatch

I've see this happen before, and I think it's moisture under the switches. We used the van as a camper, and sleeping in the van creates a lot of excess moisture. We would always try to keep the side door open and run a dehumidifier when possible.

Try a hot air gun?

Or Ken's solution.
