Hi all.
Does the dw8 2003 1.9d have a chain tentioner. The oil pump drive chain is really loose and noisy. Also does anyone have info on how to replace the chain for a new one.
Thanks.

Thanks Kenbw2.
Found a few diagrams and they all show no tentioner. The chains slapping about, so trying to work out the easiest way of replacing.

its more easy to replace the chain. as i recall the XUD and DW8 both use the same oil pumps so the chains thus should be the same. i swapped the oil pump and chain in a 200k mile XUD with one from a 30k mile DW8 while replacing the sump gasket. that 200k oil pump still held pressure but i did notice the oil light go out faster with the lower miles pump!
while you are in there, also replace the crank seal too just helps stop any future leaks.

Words of wisdom: Internally rust proof the sills and subframe! both skins!!. There's always user serviceable parts inside. "Oh that shouldn't have happened".

Thanks for the reply.
I changed the chain for a new one. Bit of a fiddly job which entailed removing the crank sprocket, so replaced the seal while at it. Surprised it didn't have a tentioner as the old chain had stretched to a good half link longer than the new one.
Now going to have to do it again, as the shell bearings need replacing and the sump has developed a rust hole on the front!
