My mate did mine cambelt, he had engine suspended in the air, RHS mont completely off, lifting the van and dropping almost together with engine support several times....
Give it to mechanic and good one at that, it's fairly heavy on knowledge and equipment jobbie.

Yesterday I swapped the PCB and key blade to a new case
as the buttons wore so worn out it was difficult to operate.
The only real snag was getting the rivet out of the old one
as it was solid steel.
The rivet in the new case is partially hollow and takes a counter rivet to
lock it in.
It seems secure for now but if I have any concerns I'll put some epoxy on it,
just happy I can lock/unlock without carefully using a fingernail now.
I have two keys which work but I'll keep the SX9 blank in case I want a 3rd key
Apart from being cut, I assume it will need a transponder IC and need programming if I wanted to use it
for anything other than opening a door.

I remember having that flip out key on my Synergie and being sad it doesn't do the spring out thing
Confirmed that the transponder is needed to start the engine. Although if you take out the key-with-chip, the key-without-chip will start the engine withing 10 or 30 seconds or something. For what good that is

You will need either a Philips ID33 (T5) or a Philips Crypto II (T14). These are one time programable via Lexia. Best to pull the transponder from one of the remotes to check.

Thanks both of my keys start the engine so must have chips in I suppose
Another fob would be nice though but no rush at the mo, I'll get back to the servicing soon..
Not sure what Lexia is, is it some kind of diagnostic software?

Yes Lexia or diagbox is the diagnostic and config sw. Btw to add keys you will need the 4 character pin code which will have been lost years ago between trades :-)

I decided to remove all that previous lining out as it wasn't insulated and
wanted to have a clear deck to work from.
the extra few inches of head room is nice
I did leave the floor alone, too much faff tearing that up and it will be covered later anyway.
I also removed the crusty old roof vent, treated the rust areas and while rooting about for something to cover it with found a peice of translucent 10mm cast acrylic, Perspex in fact which is UV tolerable.

I measure the centre hole and PCD of the bolt holes and cut it out with a 2mm lip
on the wee CNC machine and fitted it with silicone and temporary screws.
I have some M6x20 SS button head bolts on order which I'll fit later
When the silicon has cured I'll give the roof a good scrub too.

the 'skylight' does help lighten it up in the back a bit too

Next Tuesday Its booked in for the Gates cam belt kit and water pump to be fitted and
I'm assembling the parts for oil and filter, fuel filter, air filter, thermostat and fresh coolant jobs, plus a radiator flush with the heater matrix getting special attention.
I'm hoping all the AC needs is a regas

Got the Gates cam belt kit and water pump done today
the belt didn't look to bad for 60 thou but the tensioner and pump
looked deffo second hand
I bought the parts for around a oner and my local guy did it for £120 so quite happy
I now wish I got him to do the oil and filter as I did it myself and it got a bit messy
Anyhoo, its done now.
Ordered a thermosat and will do the rad flush when it arrives

Yep, I'm lucky in that Paul my local indy mechanic is a well experienced guy who
has always given me good service at a decent price.
When the old Galaxy failed on some pretty basic welding the MOT garage quoted me £210
They played it up like I was some numpty who'd never seen the underneath of a car.
I considered doing it myself but I dont like grovelling about under cars too
much nowadays so I took it to Paul.
He did it for £40 then I took it back and got me MOT
Result!

I'm not building a camper but thought some insulation would be a good idea
so I bought a 1x5 meter roll of 10mm sound and thermal insulation.
I removed the headlining and managed to insulate most of the van from that 5 meters.
I'll probably buy another meter or two to finish it off as I do some panelling out
and fit some low profile racking.
There were already two cables running from under the dash to the top RH channel
so while I had it stripped out, I added two more on the LH side for future gadgets, lights and such.

Oh wow you've taken the cab shelf out too. I've seen the bolts at the rear of that shelf, how's it attached at the front?

I tried using the brute force and ignorance method and removed the side screws
and pulled and pulled until I realised there were two black plastic plugs at the front that had to be removed first and if you just want to get shelf out, that's all you have to do,
ie whip out plugs and yank shelf backwards.
The plugs are the push in spreaders for an expanding/rawlplug type fixing
the side fixings are similar but use long screws instead.
They're about 8mm in diameter and 40mm long and were a sod to remove at first without one of those split jawed trim remover thingys and I only damaged one so that's
a good result for me.
I haven't fully reinserted them yet just in case I need to do some further adjustments or mods

When removing the headlining the only other thing I struggled with were the sun visors.
The outer hinges have two obvious screws to remove but I didn't notice the inner clips
had weeny little locking screws until after I brute forced the things out!

Again luckily no real damage done.

Incidentally.
One reason I flipped the Galaxy for this van was I wanted something I could occaisionally get a bike or scooter in, whole or in parts, as I usually have a bike project on the go.
This 125 scoot I've been fixing up to sell lately went in easily for me to take it
for its first MOT

I once managed to get a BMW K100 in a Citroen Visa van ( with some bodgery) so hoped the Expert would
be useful, not like the old LDV Convoy 400 which I could ride a bike in of course but I didn't want that big of a van.

Sold that on and bought a slightly larger one what does not leak

Hyuuge! but a noisy thing on long journeys and a bit of a rot box too sadly
I believe yours have the later Duratorq engines with DMFs so probably quieter and smoother

Night and day from the old Banana engine plus they have a bit more power. The black one i made the mistake if putting a solid flywheel in when the clutch end. Almost as soon as i turned the key i regretted it. That was only 90BHP and managed to get 90mph on the flat from that. Not bad from an old bus the shape of a house brick. The silver one what is plated at 4.2T was lacking in the power. Got that mapped to 120 and put 16" wheels on it to get the revs down. Now it pulls like a train. Bloody thing runs out of puff at 80 but that was just being curious. It almost a camper now and i cant see me doing much more over 60/70 in the thing. Think if the Pug Expert was the 2.0 and like Europe we had the LWB i may have kept it. Probably just made it a bit taller what i am sure is doable. When i started to do Gardening a bought a dispatch but that soon got to small as my client list grew so got the LDV Maxus for work. That was only the 1.9 also and was useless on hills with anything more than my gardening tools in the back.

I wasn't impressed by the wee flappy plate over the cigar lighter /accessory socket and ashtray affair so used that blank plate on the dash to mount a combined voltmeter with 2x UB3-QC sockets and 1x PD socket plus a 12v power port for pumps etc which will usually hold another adapter for a couple more USB charge ports.
I rerouted the supply cable from the flap to it
This cable is already protected by a 20A fuse but I stuck an easily accessible 15A in line which should do the job.
I don't expect any points for beauty as long as it all works
and may repurpose the flappy thing into a cup/sweetie/snack/loose change holder,
dunno yet as it's a low priority job right now

pretty sure im running the same radio as that in my van! i chose it because it has 6 RCA output. front, rear, sub. im running a amp in mine which is bolted to the bulkhead.
i also removed the shelf on mine... then made a full shelf which goes to the bulkhead. a bit of overhead storage.
im actually doing a lot to my van at the moment.. i really need to do an update on it.

Yep its a Sony MEX BT 3800U XPLOD (ex police?
) I picked it up locally for £25 and its mint,
still in the box with cables, manual, remote and all.
the Pioneer stereo that came with the van didn't have Bluetooth and I do like me Bluetooth
for phone and running the 10" Android Tablet/ through it for media, big screen satnav etc.
Only 2 speakers connected as yet but I'm still too busy in setting the van up to how I want it
to worry overmuch about that right now.
