The rear door wouldn't stay latched open and the slightest breeze would get it to slam shut
which annoyed me.
I thought the spring was tired but it was in fact splitting so drilled out the pop rivet, removed it
then dragged the MIG out and tacked it up.
I did wonder if the catch springs were available to buy, but couldn't see one so hope the quick fix lasts for a while

Well my welding lasted 10 minutes
that spring steel didn't like a touch o the MIG
the weld was ok but the original material broke elsewhere
Sod it, I nicked the one from the NS door and will lash up something to keep that open
on windy days another time.
The pop rivet is easy enough to drill out but they're fiddly little buggers to get out and in
so will keep it simple like jamming a block of wood in there at first when needed and devise
something better later.

I like that, simple and effective a step up from my current bit of wood

Today I got so peed off with my bit of wood falling out
the near side door and it slamming shut
I made up an impromptu catch from available bit and bobs I had to hand.
It's made from various bits of ally I had knocking about and
I cushioned out the catch area with hot glue to stop it swaying about
I had to beef up the trap part with half a steel corner brace under a 5mm rivet as
I realised the thin alloy plate was too prone to bending and so far so good.
Long term it my need to be upgraded, but for now its working just fine
as a 'door keep opener thingy' (technical term)
It allow me to use to door as I would with the original catch
and captures the door when opened, allows me to open it fully
then close it without any further fiddling.
