Yesterday we had a nice heavy down pour, unfortunately my van seams to have developed a large water problem. I had put the heater on to help clear the windows, and not long after noticed a rather large pool of water in the passenger foot well.
Upon a small investigation, the water dripping from the heater fan area did seem to stop when I turned the fan off.
Has anyone else experienced this or something similar?

Fan may be coincidence. You have drain vents under the bonnet. Left and right of the wiper motor you see rubber tubes going into the inner wings. Make sure they are clear and i think there is a middle one also. Worth checking out your door seal also.

If the outlet tubes are blocked, the water will backup straight into the air vent system, and exit at the lowest point. By the time you notice, the foam backed rubber floor will have soaked up 20 littes of water. I had to buy a decent dehumidifer and run it for the best part of week, with the floor lifted with blocks of wood wedged under.

Right, checked the outlet tubes all clear. Dismantled the dash on the passenger side and took the fan out, no sign of water anywhere! Like you said tee-cee, the foam backed rubber was saturated on the passenger side, luckily though there is a nice cap to remove to all the water to drain out.
Some further investigation work required.

Someone was on a few month back with a leak at the windscreen. Does yours look like an ill fitted aftermarket job? BTW have a sniff at your water? and check the coolant level. You may have a wee leak at the matrix.

I had the same issue with blocked drain pipes on another vehicle. Pour a kettle of steaming hot water just above the bonnet line and the gunge should work its way out. Be careful though!

I had it years ago with a MK2 Cavalier. Never knew until i had driven out a drive through car wash onto the main road. Almost instantly the windscreen steamed up to the point i had to stop and investigate. the wiper motor was 100% submerged and the trough under the wiper scuttle was brimmed to the top. Always clean them once a year now no mater how they look.
