Cable Conduit from Engine Bay to Cab?

Hi all, first time poster but lurking on this forum has been so helpful to my camper conversion of my little Fiat Scudo. Apologies if this topic has been dealt with but I could only find one thread on it where the image was broken so I couldn't quite get it.

Does anyone know the easiest way to run a cable from the engine bay to the cab?

I am installing leisure batteries and a split charge relay so I need to connect the starter battery to the relay in the cab and the leisure batteries.

Does a conduit exist already or will I have to drill a hole?

I've been using the existing conduits to install my central locking kit which is working a treat. I can post pics of that if anyone is interested in cheaply retrofitting central locking to their van

ediT: I saw one thread where someone put a leisure battery in the engine bay, this won't work for me as I have multiple agm batteries placed under the front seats.

Re: Cable Conduit from Engine Bay to Cab?

I have my leisure battery in the engine bay but like you I prefer not to drill holes where I don't need to. I ran my wire from the battery to the inside along the wing. There are some holes in the inner wing and if you're good at angling/persevere then it emerges near the front door hinge. There's a couple of grommets there that go through the side and into the passenger footwell, you'll need to unscrew the triangular plastic piece. That should get you into the cab.

Re: Cable Conduit from Engine Bay to Cab?

Thanks Ken! It was your post I saw about the leisure battery in the engine bay and it looks awesome! I'll search for those holes in the wing, where's the best place to look for them...from the engine bay downward? or from underneath the vehicle? Nice yeah I unscrewed the triangular plastic piece already to run the wires to the driver door for my central locking kit

I'll get you some pictures tomorrow when it's light. Actually I must remember to top up the power steering fluid while I'm there

Re: Cable Conduit from Engine Bay to Cab?

Power steering topped up, damn slow leak

Here's where I've run my cable. it's the big grey one, you can see it going into the wing below the bonnet hinge and then emerging at the bottom of the door and then straight into the grommet

It took a lot of aiming and trial and error to get it to the right point. Helps that it's a solid cable, would be harder with a flexible one

Go down the engine bay bulkhead and under the van and back up through a hole in the sear floor. Seal/paint hole edges and use a grommet so the cable does not chaff.
