Dispatch Side Door Lock

My 2015 dispatch side door will not open on the external handle when first unlocked. Howeve, if you open  it from the internal handle the external handle then works fine.  When you unlock it, you can hear the clunk.  I have checked the cabling going to the external handle and this looks ok.  There is also the normal pressure on the handle.  I have also tried cleaning the electronic contacts on the door too. Any suggestion?

With mine it turned out to be the door handle hook was falling out and not catching properly. I'll get pictures later
