Peugeot Expert 2.0 HDi (2005) – All four gauges stopped working

Hi everyone!

I'm looking for some help with an instrument cluster problem on my 2005 Peugeot Expert 2.0 HDi (RHX). VIN: VF3BYRHXB86186469

The instrument cluster is a Jaeger 1491/2920/80, PCB number 501021610060, with a 26-pin yellow connector and an 18-pin grey connector.

The problem started after some welding work was done around the left front suspension strut tower. The battery was disconnected during welding, but unfortunately some wiring insulation near the welding area was damaged by heat.

Afterwards, all four analogue gauges stopped working at the same time:

Speedometer

Tachometer (RPM)

Fuel gauge

Coolant temperature gauge

However, the digital odometer display and warning lights still work normally.

I also found a blown 5A fuse (F6). Replacing it restored the radio and interior lighting, but the gauges still don't work.

I'm trying to figure out whether the problem is caused by missing power or signals from the vehicle, or a fault inside the instrument cluster itself.

Does anyone know:

The exact pinout for this Jaeger instrument cluster, especially all permanent and ignition-switched 12V supplies and ground connections?

Which pins receive the speed, RPM, fuel level and coolant temperature signals?

Which component or IC controls the four gauge motors?

Has anyone experienced all four gauges failing together after welding or wiring damage, while the digital display still works?

I've found some Fiat Scudo wiring diagrams, but I'm not sure they match this particular Jaeger cluster.

If anyone has a wiring diagram, PCB schematic, or experience repairing this exact cluster, I'd really appreciate your help!

Thanks in advance!

Re: Peugeot Expert 2.0 HDi (2005) – All four gauges stopped working

it is WAY more complicated, than you'd hope for, as what signals/power it is connected to unfortunately.
In short (without VIN etc) it's impossible to even try to guess, but cluster is connected to all systems, like BSI/ ECU / BSM etc, if something works doesn't mean it works by direct connection, most likely is related to relays on so on. Finding blown fuses is good start, it might turn out repairable.

Re: Peugeot Expert 2.0 HDi (2005) – All four gauges stopped working

I've got a 2006 2.0 HDI expert and the Service Box software, plus I've printed out most of the wiring diagrams
for quick reference so I dont have to go to the pc, run VMware/XP and all the service box malarkey
just to refer to a diagram.

Yours is probably the same as mine but an RPO number from the door pillar may help

Thanks for your reply!

I've checked the identification sticker on the door pillar, but I couldn't find a clearly marked RPO/ORGA number.

My VIN is **VF3BYRHXB86186469**, and the vehicle is a 2005 Peugeot Expert 2.0 HDi with the RHX engine.

Would you be able to identify the correct wiring diagram from the VIN?

I'm particularly looking for the instrument cluster (component 0004) wiring diagram, with the yellow 26-pin and grey 18-pin connector pinouts.

Many thanks for your help!

Re: Peugeot Expert 2.0 HDi (2005) – All four gauges stopped working

My diagrams show fuse F4 in the passenger fuse box supplies/protects the gauges
and power is via cable CH04F in at pin 20 and they're grounded via pin 21 on cable M004B
so I'd start there.
I assume you know there is no colour convention on PSA vehicles?
meaning you cannot ID any cables function by its colour but only by the code printed on it.
this can be a PITA at times I know, especially if you dont have the relevant diagrams.
