Juts got back from driving from Bristol to the midlands then on to Middlesbrough and back
and noticed the back doors had partially opened when arriving up north then again after i got back
This has happened before and I thought I had sorted it after adjusting the LH door catches
but apparently not
I just had look at the LH catches and see no obvious gaps or problems and wondering what to do next
to get them more secure
Any cunning wheezes chaps?

Yea mine does this, does my head in
I've found it helps to put some washers under the bottom catch to raise it up a bit

So it's not just mine then?
OK
Been mulling over what I observed when I adjusted it last time and wondering if the springs that push the latches
into the roof and floor brackets have gone a bit soft over the years
and are allowing them to 'bounce' a bit.
I did mull over supplementary latches like those stretchy rubber bonnet strap thingys but that could be bit of a faff
I'll look into it soon as it kind of bugs me to have to keep checking them.

Both my previous white Dispatch and my current one developed the problem, it's definitely not just you haha
My guess is that it's the body skewing, but I could be wrong on that

Yep the body skewing/distorting was my first thought too
and that may well be the cause but having looked at it, the body would have to seriously distort
for the latches to pop out those brackets as I reckon the latches go in about 10mm or so if memory serves
but its one of the things I'll check soon.
I hope we're wrong as ferked if I know how to prevent that !
I did close the door and pushed/pulled and rocked the van but couldn't detect any noticeable skewing

OK thanks chaps.
Eddie's link shows it's a 'feature' of these vans then and not just Ken and myself suffering
I could easily rig up some Heath-Robinson extra security affair but want to avoid a rigmarole
every time I want to fling them open so will have a closer look
to see if my previous adjustments slipped out of alignment or whatever.
They're all 20+ years old and the doors have probably done a lot of work so will examine linkages, springs
etc first.

Further to the previous post, pinched from https://www.forum-peugeot.com/Forum/thr … ant.36970/
Yes, it's a classic problem.
I loosened the bottom lock and tightened it again, pushing firmly downwards.
Since then, I don't slam the door anymore. I hold the vertical handle tightly with my right hand, push the door gently but firmly with my left hand, and then release the handle.
For about a year now, the door hasn't opened.
It's much better!
I have the same problem, I placed washers under the rings at the top and bottom of the box and the doors no longer open.
I had the same problem. The solution I found was:
Adjusting the side door (it had a small air leak, which wasn't helping).
Replacing one of the latches (I don't know the name) that hold the rear left door (one at the top and one at the bottom).
Adjusting both latches after the replacement.
And from another thread here https://www.peugeotforums.com/threads/e … ing.236577
Hey mate, I had the same problem on my 2001 van. I just removed the strike plate where it curves above the latch's catch and hammered it flat, without the curve. Mine doesn't open by itself anymore.
...Yes, the ones attached to the body, not the doors. They're difficult to flatten, though. But they're adjustable, so when you put them back in place, just move them into the right position to catch the door. I did the bottom one first and that solved the problem, but then I did the top one too, just to be sure.
Do report back with what is successful. Good luck.
