BP Ultimate

Is it a placebo? Ran the van down to almost fumes and stuck in 30 quids worth. Took a swing round the A1 and ran the van along at 80-85 mph for around 25 miles, that should have used up what was in the filter and lines. Started to drive down to 65-70 then on the country roads home. By the time i was 3 miles or so from home i was starting to wonder if this was my van. It felt more responsive of the throttle so whatever cleaning agent they say they have in it must work quite quick. Even purring along at 25-30 mph was felling a lot smoother. Think i shall stick another 30 quid in and see how she goes as that should be cleaning or at least braking down dirt even when stopped so yeah, i am impressed.

Anyone notice a difference?

two stroke oil

Tried it many moons ago when low sulphur and city diesel first came out and there was all that scare mongering about pump failures...... I thought it made engine (smoother) have less diesel knock or maybe it was a placebo effect ..... Haven't bothered for a long time now...

"Bragging time"

Ten N a good bit yrs ago...  Before divorce settlement was thrust upon.... a "R33 GTR V Spec" which for all the miles it did  anyway, Ran on Ultimate, V power ETC.... But Tesco 99 was pretty good if it was fairly fresh (mostly V power) other wise ..... a bag of s***e.........

Aye i am going to have to bike the bullet and get my hands dirty as no doubt its costing me money. Ill get a seal kit ordered up for the start of the year and pull it apart making sure everything is nice and tight. I am draining the tank down just now (Still using Belgian diesel) then i am going to start running the BP ultimate and Esso like fuel for a while to see if they clean as well as they mention. I did notice a power difference when using the more expensive petrol on the bike and in my wifes little Fiat so fingers crossed its got the same effect on the van.

I also ran the van on Belgian diesel for about week ten days after I got back then parked van up for about a month ..... Fired van up about fortnight ago and it rushed me over £85 to fill  neutral............
Nowadays being still skint (Paying off Mortgage again) I'm (Longer in the tooth) being frugal and just stick in the cheap stuff including both bikes

Re: BP Ultimate

I parked the van up after that day and apart from two nip to the local shop trip i have never used it so cant tell for sure if its better. I work for a neighbour gardening so thats me more or less finished till February/March so plenty time to test properly. I must get my finger out as i have not got any service kit yet nor have bought brake pads. Think i may need shoes also as the back is sticking sometimes.

Re: BP Ultimate

Well today i got dragged into Edinburgh for Christmas shopping. Got a few bits and bobs and managed to come home with a new TV also. Win win  big_smile  However, the fuel works. Van was running silky smooth up to 70mph, to busy to try faster but at higher revs just before gear change felt smoother and quieter.  Dont know if it smokes less as it was never a smokey van anyway but worth the extra few pennies i say.
