just bought a van

160k but tidy enough with 12 months mot!

need to fit new lock barrels as they are all knackered, anyone done this before?

will be doing a camper conversion...let the fun begin!!

Looks nice. 160k is sod all if its been looked after. My old van is just under 160 and i would not think twice about taking it any long trip. Not changed the locks but changed door handle what involves taking locks barrels out. Sliding door is pice of piss, Back slight pain in the ass due to room and main doors never had to take them off but looks easy enough. Once you have the handle off you have two side pins on the barrel you push while pushing the barrel out and slide new one in. It is that simple.

Thought i lost this. Here is your barrel with a push in pin shown

That slide in from the outside in and locks into place. Only thing is remember how the wires go and be casfull on the side loading with the wire from the lock to central locking motor and plastic retaining clip is fragile.

sounds simple enough!! i can only assume its new barrels thats needed if they are just spinning.

gotta be clever with my conversion as id like to fit a motorbike in with the bed folded. doable i reckon though.

Hi, ive done all five on my van, as casper says sliding doors are piss easy and rear door a little more involved with one rivet to drill out, I didn't replace the rivet on mine not because im a lazy bollox just because as far as I could see it serves no purpose!

The front doors are a bit more work but easy enough, theres a plastic guide for the connecting rods that drops out when you release the door latch bit which took me a while to work out where the hell it came from and how to put back which was a bit of a pain but I got there and I ain't the sharpest http://dispatchexpertscudo.org.uk/forum … _smile.png

If you whole barrel is spinning try opening the pins up to see if they grip better. Save a few bob

BTW mine have been changed and a couple still spin. See that picture of the batter. That top middle part sits in grooves what ware in the plastic handle.

If your bed folded behind the front seats it would. Or a single side bed with minimal fixed furniture might let you get a bike in with the bed down.

I reckon I will be able to get small mc's or push bikes in mine with two single beds down but it is an odd layout. When traveling alone, I could take both near side seats out if I wanted a bigger bike in.

You could do the same but only have it say two foot wide. I needed double as the wife and dog come with me. You could also have a bench two foot wide running down the van behind the drivers seat. Have the 14-16" tall and use the underneath as storage. This will leave almost three foot wide and six foot length free floor space. Roof rack and top box if you want to be taking more away.

If the whole lock spins it is pointless, anybody can just pry it out easily and open with a screwdriver.
If that's the case the only thing to do is replace the handle asssembly

Drivers door is the worst and more so when locking. Keep saying ill take it out and pull the pin out more but never do. Stripping the front doors down is a pain in the arse.

Its cold out there dont you know? I had a flat battery due to lack of use. Charged and when my gear oil arrived i put it back in and had a quick glance for the drain and fill holes. Nah, could not see them in the first 20 seconds i was back in the heat. Ill try again tomorrow as i must go out and clean it. big_smile

Better be comfy at 50 quid. I think you are not thinking it through. OK keep one side free for a bike, preferably passenger side as you may need the seat forwards for space. Now if you are sleeping on the other side then where does all that gear go that you may need?. Change of clothes, bike gear, cooking stove or whatever. Lye on the floor and look up at all that wasted storage. Lift the body up and you now have storage under your bed hence making a bench/trunk and sleeping on it with your new 50 quid fold up mattress.
Something like this but as wide as your shoulders or new mattress.

How much shit could you put in now? If you want a push bike get a roof rack and shove it up there. Put it in the van when away for security. Bin your double seat for a single and that way if you do have a small motorbike you can hook the front or back wheel between seats and angle the bike away from bench and tie that in for safety.
