Cat C Damage

Would you buy a Cat C? seen one at a good price. Its had roof to low bridge interface but could be popped out. No homes or bent bodywork. Would i have insurance problems? Van has just been released for sale from insurance company.

Re: Cat C Damage

I would buy cat c with that sought of damage if the price were right, as for insurance I can't recall ever been asked if the van was damage categorised by insurance only ever asked if I had an accident in last five years

Re: Cat C Damage

Just decided to give it a miss. Its taking all what i have saved. I need four trains and drive it home with no tax and ins. Find storage while i sell my van and get this insured and taxed and its only got 60 odd k on the clock but i am thinking that is timing belt time so more money before i start converting. Ill hold back i think as something else will turn up. Bummer as its a nice looking Boxer Minibus with the 2.8 engine. Clean with tow bar and electrics.

Re: Cat C Damage

Probably for the best pal I recently bought a bike from down south 5hour drive each way I knew it was a wrong un when I looked it over but kidded meself I can make good just because I had put the time in driving there neutral

Why a minibus tho? far too many windows for my liking and makes quite restrictive to usable space is how I see them

Re: Cat C Damage

This is only down at Burscough in Lancashire. I got my Expert from down that way (Leyland) but the guy picked me up at Preston. Now i need a train into Edinburgh, Down to Preston, Out to Southport then on to Burscough. Not priced it but ill bet ill not get much change from 100 quid then fuel home.

Cheap van anyone

Easy and cheap to cover windows up. More expensive to fit them in. Also mini bus tend not to have been a builders van. Lots are school or church type vans. Just need to watch for the taxi ones but then i would still consider that option.

Re: Cat C Damage

Cheap enough van that and its quite a symmetrical dent so a lick of paint and it could probably go un noticed tongue
But still got too much glass for a camper for my liking you be surprised how cheap you can get glass fitted to side doors these days, do a few T4 forum searches. blancking windows is quite involved if you want it to look straight

No i would not take the glass out. There is a film you get what covers the glass and blacks it out, Insulate and then ply over the inside. When  get a van if i dont get a crew cab ill look at buying a sliding door with glass if its working out cheaper that putting glass in. I can get a  Slider for the 60 quid mark at a scrap yard the other side of Edinburgh so ill be pestering them a lot smile This gear oil will b be here in two days so ill get that done and get the van up for sale then start hunting. This one just stuck out, if closer to home i think i would have took the risk.

Hmmm how I see em is mini buses are always fully loaded, what does the average 10 year old weigh these days 80- 90kg big_smile and drivers that wouldn't know where to look for dipsticks, probably answer on the back seats!

But joking aside that van does look decent

Re: Cat C Damage

Funny as where i live is a posh wee town with lots of rich people (Not me sad ) One thing we dont have is fat kids. We have a small few council estate kids who get pissed up at the weekend over at the park but apart from that they are well behaved. Its not natural.
