Insurance

The lass that bought my Pug came for a box of parts today. Asking about insurance she went With Adrian Flux who insured it as a camper. She told them its not been changed on the reg documents and had no table or water. They said you use it as a camper and it looks like a camper we are happy to insure it as a camper. Had i known that a couple of weeks ago  sad

Anyway. She is 21. First car/van so no NCB and got fully comp for £700. You may think that is bad but i have seen some quotes for kids way up at £2k. Anyway, handy to know you can get camper insurance as im sure this is cheaper than commercial.

Re: Insurance

Flux are very good.

I am an old fart but £220 inc up to £2000 camping gear and £80 odd breakdown cover with no NCB isn't bad.

Tell them your a member of a club, even online, for a 15% discount.

Re: Insurance

Yeah I need to look at this and change mine, as it's a partial conversion not sure if actually covered, a friend of mine said he saved about £100 on his other commercial vehicle policy. He's recommended Flux!

from their website...."What's more we can offer discounts of up to 15% if you belong to a recognised web forum or camper owners club."

"...Owner's Club Discounts – If you belong to a recognised owners club or enthusiasts' forum, you will receive a discount of up to 15%, depending on the policy taken."

Does this count?? or facebook groups etc. you reckon?

Dunno about facebook.

I've always done it by phone and they have always asked if I belong to any camping club and have accepted without question when offered various forums.  They have never shown any interest in what forum or suggested it was limited to any particular ones.

Not just with Flux, it's worth asking them all if they don't offer.

Re: Insurance

I think the forum ones are a tad shit. Either its admin cutting a deal for free insurance and you get say 5% where in reality you phone them up and get the same price or its some member who pays to advertise and says he is offering a percentage and again in reality, phone up and get the same price.

If you want a discount. Move to a better post code, get older, get a few years NCB or get an approved alarm and tracking system.

Re: Insurance

I use Shield total insurance - mainly because they will do up to 240 days fully comp in Europe.
Came in a at £204 this year for up to 15k miles. It pays to do these thing online, since you can play about with numbers and see how its changes things. For example increasing the value above £5k reduced the premium, adding NCD protection cost nothing, increasing the days in Europe from the default cost nothing. Never thought about just ticking the camping club box, will do that next year.
