I love the battery charger thing as a power source - great idea... what kind of load do you put it under? will it do a week with 2 phones + ipad + lighting??

I've not had it under quite that kind of load for a whole week yet, but I'll give it a bit of a stress-test.

I think it runs far longer charging items off the built-in USB ports rather than turning on the inverter (for the built-in 3-pin UK plug) and plugging items in that way.

There are two USB ports on the battery - I'll try adding a USB hub as well and let you know how it performs.

Bit confused - I'm sure the 1.6 was a petrol engine.

That van is described as a 1.6 diesel and a 1.9 diesel in the description.

Worth checking what it actually is!

Re: Locations?

Headline on Ad is that of a mk2 1.6 HDI van

photographs are of I'd say  mk1 2.0 HDI face lift... not a full blown WAV.... Although its been a disabled access van of some description and the name "Liberty" on rear door may support that

On the surface Ad looks OK... But I'd tread carefully, they may just not know what they have or is it deliberately trying to mislead ?...... Looks as though its been used as a painters van....Not that it makes it bad van just my gut reaction says tread more carefully than norm, but still worth a look

HHH mmmm... My nose has got the better of me and so I used this link " http://www.ukvehicle.com/SE05JDJ/ "............ Interesting !!!

Re: Locations?

Well it tells you that it is indeed a 2.0hdi as Vaz predicted.

Odd that it did almost half its mileage very recently but at least you know the 80,484 should be genuine.

Yeah - possibly used as a taxi/van for a year and did 30,000?! whats yearly average for taxi - could be around that..

I asked where it was and what model it is and he says its the 1.9d....

Re: Locations?

Your doing the right thing save loads of ads compare get a good feel of what you want/need/price and whats available.
Vans by their very nature obviously are going to be opposite of cars, as a work tool and collect said abuse.. so going to be wider mileage range, price and rough ness...

Don't despair take your time you will find one, even with a few miles/dings you will find a Gem

On mileage front...I did a hpi check on our camper before I took final step to find it had covered more miles in its last 2 years than in its first 8 years ...............it turned out that guy I'd bought it from used it for daily driver/everything....

Re: Locations?

Cheers, shows how cheap these are! I cant see if it has rear windows, which is my minimum requirement and I'm leaning towards fully glazed.

This is for driving it as much as anything!

Cheers! I don't care about bodywork/interior but I don't really have the experience to know what else to look at, I've got a mechanic whos prepared to come look at a few with me but not too far as I'm paying him!

Id like to think I'd have it for a while and to be able to put effort into the conversion I have to feel like its got plenty of life left!

Re: Locations?

I've always like the idea of those table n chair setups they have in mobile homes, you know with the window to the side and all nice an organised with tea etc.
but my van is staying a van,im not cutting a fugly window in the side of it, that would turn it from a cool builders van into a sad camper, i tried to make it like a cosy space inside it, but it all just takes up valuable space, you don't need cupboards really, or a kitchen sink, you don't need any of it,
just have a few boxes of things, i have a bunch of foam sheets i found on a building site which keep the floor softer than bare metal.

soak up all the puddles, everythings normal.
