2002 Fiat Scudo conversion

I started the conversion today removed the full bulkhead and the mini bulkhead although the smaller one did fight back, when I removed the ply floor the signs of it's previous life as florists van came to light with a lot of spilled compost and decayed flowers, I removed half a bin bag full of soil. It's a good job these vans are galvanised as if it were a Transit there'd be no rear floor.

I attached a few batons to the roof using Sikaflex, then the usual bubble foil insulation, recycled plastic insulation was put into the open cavities around the van.

Yes Casper, the van should be done in 3-4 weeks as I'll work on it on my 3 days off each week.

IM painting mine just now matt black. Giving it a Mad Max kind of Rat look. Having to do this between work and rain so its taking its time. Kind of Black over red oxide just now but at 5.5 meters long my brush muscles are aching lol

I've had a busy day today. fitted the mains hook-up inlet, fitted a skylight, put a few cables in the roof for lights and ply lined the roof;

That all until Monday when I'm off work again.

It's a smaller one 280 x 280, I got it from a local caravan breakers for £27.00, he has new stock and accessories, he also trades on ebay as caravan-spares-uk.

I did a little more this week, lined the roof, sides and sliding doors after making new ply panels. Built some wheel arch boxes, fitted the lights and a mains unit;

I still need to tidy up the lining in places as you can see, next week put the floor down and start build the furniture.

I've had a busy Thursday and Friday on the van last week, built the bed base with storage underneath. I've made this half the length of the van, made a start on the kitchen unit and a small bench behind the passenger seat and trial fitted the cushions.

Looks nice mate, well done. Cant tell but did you leave room to get in to change rear light bulbs? You will be surprised how many people cover the back area up in there builds just to rip it out again.

Yes Casper, I've left two hand holes on each side for light access. Your LDV has come on well, bet your looking forward to the extra space it offers.

Aye cheers. Silly things like standing up to get dressed and room on the floor for the dog bed is a bonus, also the extra space to move about if stuck inside on a rainy day as the wee pug we felt crampt having the dog with us.

So here's where I'm up to now, trimmed off around the seat bases and kitchen unit, fitted the sink, actually a large flat bottomed dog bowl and carpeted around the rear doors.

I also wired in the split charge relay and tidied up the cable runs. All I've got to do now is fit the tap, curtains and the awning rail to the van.

Be proud mate as its looking nice. Few on a facebook page i joined used dog bowl and one used a jam pot but added a drain what looks smart in brass.

So here's the van in it's (hopefully) finished state, roof box fitted and trial fitting the awning for the first time, the awning is a Sunncamp Motorlodge 200, it took 10 minutes for me to put up solo obviously it will look a lot better when pegged an tensioned properly rather than just sat on a friends driveway.

Nice job though and you didn't hang about. Looks like you struck lucky with the fit of those cushions.

When you carpeted the rear doors... how did you do the edges? Thinking of doing mine but concerned about the exposed edges not staying stuck down.

Ebay awning skirt or caravan skirt. There is a fair draught comes in the awning from under the van when sitting in the evening. It slides into the same 6mm C tracking that an awning uses and only costs a few quid plus the tracking. Van looks nice though, will done.

I used a wallpaper seam roller on the carpet edges it did flatten the pile a little but the carpets secure around the edges.

I do intend to get an awning skirt from a local breakers as I've got spare awning rail left over.

So we're finally using the van for its maiden trip out next week as we head off from North Wales to Skegness for the week, the vans all packed and ready for the off on Sunday morning...I will take a couple of pics of it set up next week.
