You said you went to homebase on Berwick did you not? I am going to do a refit of my van soon and will be needing wood and slats to make a double pull out bed. Do they have a large selection of wood at this store. I am in N.B near Dunbar and TBH its quicker to run down the A1 to Berwick than go into the middle of Edinburgh for our only store.

Nah mate I got some wood  38 x 38mm pse from B&Q in Galashiels to make the frame work and I used J.T.Doves for everything else, they delivered to my door for about a tenner extra.  I built the sliding bed slats with 38 x 19 mm pse,  If i was to start again I would have used the 50 x 19 pse , It makes it look neater.
                                   All these home improvement stores are far too expensive,  B&Q, Homebase etc...I think Wickes is a bit better and has better choice, there used to be one at fort kinnaird but no been for a few years, It was handy for access that place...

Cheers for that. Saves a wasted trip. I see teh slats i am after in Ikea. £20 gets me 16 at 90cm long. I would need two sets so unsure if £40 is a good price but this would be my double pull out bed top made.

Aye Wicks. We still have one but its away out at the back of Murryfield Stadium so can be a trek. I have a lot i am just going to recycle but just noticed Wicks do cladding cheap so that may be a trip worth doing. May just do a round trip taking in Ikea on the way home. The Wicks you are on about shut down and knocked down years ago. Tesco built a two story shop what only lasted a few years and its a B&M now.

Wickes and Ikea all you need mate   I was going to get bed slats from Ikea but it worked out slightly cheaper in the long run to use Doves as I used the same wood to build the units. Im going to get a worktop from Ikea as they do plain ones cheap and at only 20mm thick instaed of 38mm, saves a lot of weight

I ended up getting slats from this ebay seller. He has a lot of lengths so search his shop if anyone is needing any and its next day delivery. They are all 19mm thick though so no good if you want a bit spring in your slat
