2006 Dispatch 1.9

Hi there people, just bought the above vehicle and now got a couple of questions!

How do i get the overhead storage thingy out? I think something has died up there and it needs a bloody good clean, but try as i might,it's appears to be all loose but just won't come out.Ideas,anyone...

Also,i had a quick look underneath when i got it home, and i can see the flywheel! Is this normal,or should there be some sort of plate covering it?

I had it MOT'd 2 days ago and the tester never mentioned it,or the major oil leak or the massive crack in the screen...It did pass though,so not too worried.

Wife and kids taking the mick, they all reckon i've bought yet another lemon!

Look forward to hearing any theories, so fire away!

If you see the flywheel your wife and kids are correc as its not got a bloody gearbox  big_smile Is the the toothed belt you see at the crankshaft? if yes mines is like that since the day i bought it and no issues. As for the overhead not got a clue. I wanted mine out so i could extend it with a sliding door and twook the two screws out and pulled like mad with no joy so gave up.

Welcome though. So whats the van for, work or to convert?

(It's held in from above).... Torq bit each side at the top/front corner and a couple of plastic locating pin things a few inches from the centre... undo all and tug it backwards. yon may have to disconnect headlight/windows switch wires.   smile

Cheers Localfella, you confirmed my suspicions,i probably just didn't tug hard enough.I'll have another go if and when it stops raining.

As for you Casper, well,i'm sure it has got a gearbox, and i'm pretty sure it was the bottom of the flywheel i saw! (although i will now be double checking!) hmm

Damn this rain,if it ever stops i will have another look underneath, might even put my glasses on,could make all the difference.

I only bought this van for the never ending trips to all the DIY sheds and to cart all the fishing gear about.

Perhaps the biggest bonus is 'er indoors and the kids wouldn't be seen dead in it.

They already christened it ''The Dingle Wagon''.

Hallelujah,i got the storage thingy out, required the use of a trim tool (snap on speak for small crowbar),to remove 2 long black pin type things, the rest just as localfella said.

Had another look under van,and thought i'd take a picture...

Oh aye, very odd indeed. I remember some old Datsuns back in the day you had a cover like that but on top where you could just get a socket in to remove the friction plate what was handy. Wonder if Pug do the same. Must find the manual now.

Re: 2006 Dispatch 1.9

The missing tin plate is common to all the xud engines, so get one from a scrapyard.
BX, ZX, 306, 205 , Berlingo Xantia etc etc
