Hi, just picked up oil and filters to service my van and it got me thinking about mileage. Mines done 187K, it had the cylinder head etc done before I bought it (I've got the receipt). It made me wonder what mileage expectations are?
Your thoughts are welcome.
Cheers

My old Synergie 1.9TD XUD9 got to 247,000 miles before the timing belt snapped and killed it. Probably would've kept going for ages otherwise.

I'll go with kenbw on that........... Our/my Partners 306 although now in semi retirement, Fitted with the DW8.. is around the 210,000 mile mark.....
Right up until a couple years ago it was our go to travel car...... Even with 190,000 on it we did Portugal then twice to Spain in 12 months.............
All I can say about that is .... It gets Serviced/safety checked and plenty (semi synth) fresh oil every 7,000....10,000mls ..........
I guess having owned/earned a living from trucks I treat the van/cars the same..............................old habits die hard
About 15years or so ago had a Peugeot 406 GRDT (XUD9) which was sold on around the 195,000mls mark with a busted cam belt (water pump seized) .......... It received a second hand head and went on to be a Taxi......................

Oooh, my Synergie died of a broken cam belt. I still have it and I'd love to get it back running again. How big/expensive a job was that?

Sorry about taking so long to reply................ I don't have a figure and it was that long ago but I do remember another head was procured and it resurrected/rebuilt that way.... Don't remember why other than a vague discussion about replacement coming off an non-turbo didn't matter.
It was a company car and I moved onto a 205 STDT for about 10 months..............Either boss man/garage sold it on during repair as it was surplus to requirements by then and the 205 had less than half the mileage...........
Don't think another head was all that easy found
Neither were spring chickens really at the time..............

My old 1.9d xud dispatch had 420k orig engine never had the head off orig gear box,
I used it for multidrop deliveries was doing 1000mile aweek every 6weeks had oil n filter change, engine was still sweet as a nut didnt use oil or water
the only issues I had where the door locks and the ring gear was worn out

That's impressive. What happened to it in the end?

inner outer sills side door runners etc... and just starting to look and feel a bit beaten up
just got to the point it wasnt worth repairing, she drove herself to the scrap yard
