Engine auto-diognosis light

So, the Engine auto-diognosis light on my 2.0 Hdi has just turned on...

I know it can mean an array of things but can anyone shed any light on what to check firstly? (Has this happened to any of you guys and if so what was the issue?)

Van still drives fine, so perhaps this is the precursor to something more serious.

I'm hoping a trip to the garage for diagnosis wont be needed but fear it may!

Thanks in advance.

Re: Engine auto-diognosis light

Multiscan i think the software is called for the Fiats (Scudo) As far as i know it will also work on the Expert and Dispatch. Cables are on ebay for around 20 quid. The free version of Multiscan will let you read codes what must be better than going in blind. Pop onto the Fiat forum and scroll down for the Scudo section and just ask to confirm.

Re: Engine auto-diognosis light

So the OBD reader arrived at the weekend and it works!

It's given me the code P0220 - "Throttle/Pedal Position Sensor/Switch Circuit "B" Malfunction"

Now the van still drives fine, no issues on acceleration etc...

The website: https://www.yourmechanic.com/article/p0 … drew-quinn

lists the causes and symptoms of the P0220 (copied below)

What are the causes of the P0220 code?

Loose or disconnected components of the throttle’s electrical system
Damaged wiring or connectors associated with the throttle’s electrical system
A malfunction within the throttle body
    A faulty throttle position sensor
A faulty accelerator pedal position sensor
An accelerator pedal or throttle position sensor that is out of alignment
    A faulty powertrain control module

What are the symptoms of the P0220 code?

    Poor acceleration
    Hesitation or stalling
    Engine will not start
    Engine may run rough
    A Check Engine Light

The only symptom mine seems to have is the check engine light!

Can anyone help with what to do next?

Thanks.

Re: Engine auto-diognosis light

Are the HDI vans cable acelerator? same as DW8's

Ive had a similar thing on our Corsa but it was fly-by-wire.............(Revs all out of sync)
Any way unpluged throttle pedal and then position sensor (on throttle body)  gave a good sqirt of contact cleaner spray pluged them back up and fine ever since................

You may find a throttle position sensor on the pump (don't know where plug is).............. Mine has one but I've got the DW8 in the van
