Is there any kind of 'economical' heating for a van interior, apart from electric/mains?
I reckon that using a propane/butane gas system would probably be prohibitive both on Carbon Monoxide issues and also the fire risk if left on during sleeping

Like the look of these, however the 12v current consumption to run the fan is an issue

Just over 130 for this one - https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/5KW-5000W-12 … 1438.l2649
Wonder if it will run on cooking oil - not sure I want to splice my main fuel line

Had many a Truck with a night heater in it and to be honest there brilliant central heating when set up correctly (If temp sensor mounted to high "You freeze" ......To low "You boil")................I've no idea if they'd run on cooking oil.... they effectively use a glow plug and spray the fuel over it.......... My biggest gripe would be that on the couple of occasions I needed it the most (had got caught in -28C or the likes) the diesel had frozen or started to gell and I was stuffed ................. The version you listed is a copy of a copy and have been concidering one myself as so far Ive heard reasonsble reports they do come with their own diesel tank but where would you mount it in our kind of van set up?
Many Moons ago you could get a flameless portable heater......not seen any for a while
Alternatively check out Truck and bus dismantlers .......For a good Used cab heater............... trouble is most are 24V

I've been looking for one for a couple of years. No one seemed to stock them anymore but they have turned up again. Even more overpriced than before!

I've been pondering my options with heating. For the record Carbon Monoxide isn't a concern *the vast majority of the time*. I have a CO detector with readout and it's at 0 all the time, unless there's something stopping it burning properly. If you go for this do get a CO detector anyway. For a tenner why the hell not.
I have read that there's Nitrogen Dioxide to worry about. Trace amounts that might maybe increase the chances of lung cancer, bronchitis etc. Maybe. I haven't read enough to dismiss the possibility though so I've been looking at diesel vs vented propane.
I've settled on the Propex HS2000 mostly down to electric consumption. Slightly higher running draw, but no glow plug which is the kicker for the diesel heaters.
Need to get brave enough to hit the button, and also figure out where to vent it.
