Bottom ball joint pinch bolt

The bottom ball joint is under tension and when my van was mot'd they didn't notice the play in the bottom ball joint. It's only noticeable as a clunk going over speed bumps etc. To see if you're has play, jack it up and get a crowbar on the bit of stub that sticks up out of the clamp arrangement. Both of mine had play, I tried simply tightening up the pinch bolt but there was still play. The new pinch bolts are £5 from Citroen (high tensile steel, correct size etc) I replaced mine on both sides and no more clunk.

Thanks for that.
It's a poor description I've given upon rereading it.
Basically the stub is loose in the pinch clamp and the actual ball joint was fine. The movement of the stub had wifn the bolt shank slightly, but enough not to keep the stub tight.
