Hi all, i hope the collective can help me out with a little issue i'm having.
Earlier in the year, the blowers stopped working - that is there is no air flow coming from the vents when i move the slider.
While moving, i can feel a slight bit of air movement (and i get heat when i put the heater on) so i'm guessing thats ok - its just the blowers that have gone awol.
Does anyone know what the cause may be and any tests i can do to diagnose? Fuse / resistor / something else?

Seems a very common problem. Blower resisters often the cause. See ken's thread and others if you search for heater problems.
Replacement resistors available from Poland via ebay but two types (at least), you need the numbers of yours.

When Berlingo/ Xantia/ Xsara etc heaters pack up , changing the ' resistor' ( it's actually semiconductors) does the job in 99% of cases. Not the same component , but does the same job in a dispatch. There's a good chance it will be a fix.
In the other models , berlingo etc, after taking it apart the motor will run at full speed with leads on it , but not through the ' resistor'. Resistor is faulty.

There is a useful comment on that ebay page:
When installed it is IMPERATIVE to monitor the temperature of the resistor on first use. Sometimes a blown resistor can be a symptom of the problem and not the problem itself, and replacing it in this scenario will only cause it to blow again. If the resistor starts heating very quickly and getting too hot IMMEDIATELY SWITCH OFF YOUR CAR and diagnose the problem elsewhere. Resistors usually blow when they get too hot and this happens when too much current is being drawn from then. This can happen if there is an issue with the blower motor or even the ignition system, or a fault with the wiring. Also please check your fan is not jamming because of dirt or grease build up, or a failure in the bearings. This will also cause the fan to try to draw more power in an attempt to spin, causing the resistor to overheat and fail.
If replacing the resistor (and it is not getting hot) your heater still does not work, please check the thermo fuse or carry out further diagnosis elsewhere for a fault.

This happened to me, I suspect it could be carbon build up on the rheostat. I stripped it down and sprayed Super Servisol contact cleaner into the slider and kept sliding the slider back and forth. Works ok now!

Hi all, a bit of an update.
A friend helped me check the connections to the motor - all working and it was drawing current from the battery (voltage changed as i moved the blower speed etc).
We then decided to take the motor out of its housing, and inspect it - it was a but dusty but moved freely. We cleaned it up with a bit of WD40, cleaned the connection and tried connecting it back up - and it worked!
Popped it back in and (with a bit of the smell of WD40 in the cab) works perfectly now. It seems like there was a loose connection somewhere!
