Anyone taken their aerial off (and then managed to put it back on)?

I went through a car wash that snagged my aerial so I took it off to separate out the actual stick from the mount (I never use the radio anyway).

Now I've done that I can't get the base back on.

The base (10) has a bolt sticking out the bottom that screws into the wire underneath (9):

The nut (71) inside that bottom thing is loose and spins freely, so I can't get the bolt to thread into it.

Any ideas?

Take 71 and 9 and chuck them in the bin and use another nut with washer. Always worth a bit silicone under the base (10) Before tightening up.

Yea I thought that, and would be more than happy to do that except for this:

That black bit sticks out, which means a nut underneath wouldn't tighten up against the roof metal.

I'm gonna investigate using a spacer or something to go around that, but surely it must be possible to put it all back together properly.

How do you get to the aerial?

If you take out the light at the front, it's just above there

I had to take my aerial off and reseal it as it was leaking after it was leaking water into the cab. Water would pee out the interior light when turning into a bend lol

My old MK3 golf did the same but it had been drilled and fitted with a mobi phone aerial at some point then removed and a gromit inserted....... Many moons later water would pee in damatic fashion on your lap when least expecting

Gromet was rotten although looked OK.......... I found an old CB  aerial mount and screwed it in.......... and my alleged incontinence was rectified
