I have Peugoet 407 alloy wheels on my Dispatch van, Does any one know of a space saver spare wheel that will fit?
Cheers

No I don't Either.... So why do you need a space saver for a dispatch when their supplied with a full size steel spare from the factory ?...........

I would presume So.......
Surely you would keep the total rolling Circumference to within a few Per-cent % of standard anyway  incase of or engine unable to pull itself up a hill or your down the box that often that high gear fuel savings are quashed not to mention the PITA of extra gearbox stirring but most of all wheels tyres fouling on bodywork during operation.......

Yes you are correct under van is a largish void with a triangularish Hanger .....And that I wonder if a space saver might fall out of ....... being so much skinnier than a standard spare

There is the possibility Graydog has an under slung water tank or the likes but i still would not want a wheel nor space saver in the living area. It would end up on the roof rack under a wheel cover.

Re: Space saver wheel for 2008 Dispatch

That's a very good point ................ I have looked at that space once or twice and thought "70Ltrs of Fiamma fresh Water".........
But where do I put spare.....

Thought about bolting it to door....... but Ive got windows and can't be Ar*** re-positioning number plate and we use the other door regularly and I'm non to confident about Hindge Durability on regular use with spare haning off it .....I also thought about jigging up a frame for back door and bolting it over glass and mounting it direct to hindges rather than just sheet metal work............ It'll probably never happen .......... And anyway the Ar*** fell out my Underslung waste water tank when trolley jack rested on it as it over hung Jacking point .............

A bit dissapointed it was fabricated for the space and it was a tight fit I thought at first It was compacted road sh** between it an van and was van rotten too....... but No seems it rotted from inside out........ Still Nearly 10 years .......... Don't think i'll bother gettin another fabricated at the price ... A bucket will have to do

Yes ........... but PITA if your under bonnet regular I only say this from seris 3 Land Rover memories but van spare would be much lighter but so are the Hindges............... Mock up type ideas based from LR would be good......... The military versions spare is not bolted down but that green webing the army use but its hood is also not sloping at such an angle

Expensive for what it is but if handy with a welder im sure you could knock something up for a fraction of the price

Mount over and under the tail light

I was working on my series 3 when the bonnet dropped..., with the wheel on it, ...nearly killed me.
I can still feel the dent in my head!!

The idea of a bonnent mount is a very do-able and a some what easier option  than rear Door probably........Do the bonnet hindges look able to be beefed up  for extra weight  ...... a bit of angle iron could go a long way on Beefing bonnet stay.......

And or the need to buy a hard hat along with this idea.............. ops

Yes.... That looks do-able and appears to support its self independant of van hindges

This is more akin too what I was thinking......... certainly not any cheaper for what it is  ....... But more fitting to a variation of what I envisaged

Re: Space saver wheel for 2008 Dispatch

I am getting a bit old now and just the thought of having to try and remove that stupid set up under the bottom of the van in the rain is a scary proposal for me!!! (done it on my drive and it was a chew) So when I am away I intend to keep it on the tow bar  bike rack just for emergencies.
But thanks for your input guys it really is appreciated.

An(My Accountant) acquaintance of mine (His thing) currently has A (1979) series 3 Light weight and A 06? TD5 County Defender......... the Light Weight has had a pickle of work done on it over the last 3.....4....5?........ years with fuel tanks, out riggers, new carb x2, Bulk head,.... ETC as expected rolling resto repairs We'll call it...........
Anyway I digress the Bonnet weight is crippling ...... So spare is removed and if rquired so is Bonnet before any long/major ativities start in there.......

You are in a sence Very Lucky to still be with us after that falling on you.... yikes

Our Previous Accountant (when I was still up in Ayrshire: late 80's early 90's)....... He was Killed trying to secure his and other folks boats from damage during a Storm in Girvan Harbour..................

He drove for years and was still driving as a daily when the storm happend.........

Re: Space saver wheel for 2008 Dispatch

As it happens, I saw a Scudo for sale in Shap near Penrith that had a spare wheel bolted to the rear door as it was apparently a wheelchair van in a past life.

I agree with the concerns about the hinge, but it seemed fine.

2008 Dispatch? Is that the new shape?

On my old shape van I've just made a shelf on the inside of the nearside rear door and bungeed the wheel to it

I do belive having looked at a couple WAV vans that They did mount the spare near the back inside on the left (N/S) when they cut into where the spare wheel an exhaust lived.........

That Actually looks like a fairly straight van from what I can see from photo being Black in colour and it's badged up as a "Combinato" which suggests that started life as MPV ish
Handy to know door hinge  may-be more robust than at first considered........... wheel seems quite low mounted ..... I first thought ...so as not to obstruct or foul tail light when open door ....or clear door handle ...  Resting on bumper to help carry weight ?............

I agree with Casper ..........Secured Outside is preferable.......... And very much leaning toward Ricko's Idea of Bonnet mounted if I ever get round to it on this Van.........

Re: Space saver wheel for 2008 Dispatch

Hmm, mounted to the side wall. That could be a viable option as I have some dead space behind my shelves there. Then maybe I could get the water tank mounted underneath which is something I keep wanting.

Space saver would be nice for the space saving, not so great for running on though =/

That's something Ive desired since first getting van nearly ............

I wonder if spare wheel carrier is up to the job of carrying 70 ltrs of fresh water ............ It would cut down on cost and fabficationand fewer holes in floor of van

A zafira wev'e got has no spare and never has although we thought it did when we got car and same thing when collecting the Mitsubish from dealer .... showing us tyre pump and rubber skoosh sealent can thing under false floor.........

Suppose space saver is better than nothing and sitting for hours waiting for cavalry because foamy sealent didn't work.......

Re: Space saver wheel for 2008 Dispatch

Been thinking about this for a while.  Would need some bracing to the cradle I think.

rt2058.jpg

But after fitting a gas heater this year, I am now rethinking about using the space for gas.
