Dispatch Expert, Scudo Hub Meetup?

Some interest has been shown in a meetup so I have started this thread to consider possibilities.

To get the ball rolling it might be best if all interested would post their preferences or suggestions as to when, locations, dates anyone can't make, self sufficient or need on site facilities, children? etc and we can go from there.

I have very few commitments myself so could consider most options.

Any thoughts?

I'd love to attend one of these!

Sounds good!

when

Weekends + Mondays are good with me

locations

I'm based (kinda) around Bradford and Preston but am happy to travel to pretty much anywhere in the UK - I'm always up for a trip

dates anyone can't make

Any of the weekends before and including the 4th/5th May.

self sufficient or need on site facilities

Meh. Toilets are nice to have I guess but happy with an empty field/car park/big layby. Anywhere level where I noone will crash into me in my sleep lol

children

Nope, but I have no issue with others bringing theirs.

I'm based in SW Lancs, happy to travel for a couple of hours. Weekends are usually fine.

I am in sunny Devon, lovely place to come in a camper, I rarely have time to do anything so nearer the better for me.

Toilets are good but I can always bring a spade  big_smile

Much as I like Devon k, it's a bit far for me for just a couple nights.

How far North would you be able to manage?

TBH dont worry about me however much I want to meet up with you guys if you are all "up norf" I probably wont be able to manage it anyway, I have a lot of my weekends already sorted and no Holiday available from work either.

Re: Dispatch Expert, Scudo Hub Meetup?

That's a pity k.  Perhaps let us know if you make a longer trip up this way one day.

For the other three of us so fat it looks like we are probably only about 50 miles apart.  This could be easy.  smile  Lets leave it a few days and see if anyone else might be interested.

Are we thinking off grid or on site?

Off grid preferred, but I'm okay with facilities.

I'd be up for a trip too even if we are all in the same place

Would that cover everybody?

I feel like if we go a fair bit north we could include some of the Scottish folks

Re: Dispatch Expert, Scudo Hub Meetup?

Hey all - really lovely idea this.

I tend to be quite busy so I'd leave you guys to decide on the details - but if I can possibly make it I'd love to join.

I'm another SW Scotland bod - but I like the idea of North & South meetups. I do make it down to Bristol a few times each year in the van so, never know, I might make both.

I've mentioned this before on the forum - but in this neck of the woods there is a properly brilliant little Bluegrass Festival at a village called Moniaive. Super-friendly, great music [I wasn't a bluegrass fan until I went], big field for [cheap] camping [with loos] and 90% of the entertainment is free. Most of the music is just folks jamming [to a high standard] in the two brilliant pubs in the village.

This year it's FRI, 27 SEP - SUN, 29 SEP

Whether it suits for a meetup or not - I can't recommend it enough - maybe I'll see you there smile

Re: Dispatch Expert, Scudo Hub Meetup?

Looks like there won't be too many then.

Also looks like most are Southern Scotland/Northern England apart from k_wyndham_t. who I am sure will understand if we go for a northern venue this time?

With no particular preference myself, but to move this on, how about a spot kenbw2 and I met at recently :-

https://goo.gl/maps/PnjEW3REtn5nWAoHAht … Etn5nWAoHA

Reasonably convenient for most I think and out of the way enough for numerous vans (100's if needed smile)  No facilities but it avoids any complication of booking.

Open to any other suggestions or thoughts.

Re: Dispatch Expert, Scudo Hub Meetup?

Looks a decent festival T.  I can never book anything too far in advance but will definitely consider this as things pan out.

It's festivals that got me on the road in the first place.  Totally different occasions back then of course:-

Fancy picking a few dates out of the air that you can do? I reckon me and OAT are fairly open so chances are we'd find one in common

How on earth could Mungo Jerry headline over Van der Graff?

That's what we thought but they were surprisingly good.  Better than The Faces who were too smashed to play.  I think Rory Gallagher played two nights running to cover their spot.   But thinking bout it, that could have been a different festival altogether.

Still giging I think.

Re: Dispatch Expert, Scudo Hub Meetup?

Looks like you might be best arranging a Southeren Region meet with k_wyndham poolman?  Your 300m would be in range for me but I think others are even further north.

Re: Dispatch Expert, Scudo Hub Meetup?

Hi all, just spotted this thread and was thinking along same lines myself about a meetup. I'm reasonably free and easy but like everyone else I have various things in the diary already, so if anyone throws dates in I'd just say yay or nay. Being in Durham, I'm ok for anywhere between Lancs/Lakes and Scotland. Even though it's not my kind of music, I like the sound of the little bluegrass festival in Scotland and may head up there regardless if I'm free in September.

Cheers, Griff.

Re: Dispatch Expert, Scudo Hub Meetup?

I'd love to see this resurrected. You say September, is that when you're thinking or would you consider something a bit sooner?

I'm otherwise engaged on all of the weekends in July. August is a little uncertain, but I might be able to do one of those. September is fairly realistic.

Re: Dispatch Expert, Scudo Hub Meetup?

I'd be ok in August for last 2 weekends but I'm away 1st 2nd and 3rd weekends so far but there are 5 weekends in August this year. The good thing about the September festival in Scotland is that it's already organised & even if only one of us turned up, we wouldn't have wasted the journey. I think it is definitely worth considering, there are facilities and venues already booked so would take least effort just to piggyback the festival as it were.

Cheers, Griff.

Hmmm, yes that Bluegrass festival in Moniave sounds like a plan. Can vans park on the camping field?
