For those of you with roof-racks and top boxes...
Bought myself one of these from ebay for £8...
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Auto-Doorste … 2749.l2649

It didn't quite fit the door catch that they've fitted on the Mark 1 but it's made of aluminium so is easy to fettle with a file.
I reduced the amount of 'hook' (actually I used a hacksaw for this bit) and then filed a chamfer on the back upright. This allows the hook to be fitted at 90ish degrees 'out' and then swivelled round before the step plate is lowered.
If you try this yourself then I'll make the obvious warning that you would be reducing some of the structural integrity by filing away some of the metal - I weigh 12 stone and it seemed like there was plenty of oomph left in it when I'm stepped up
Closed for storage
Opened and showing modified areas
Fitting partially closed and at 90 degrees out
Lowering the step to help lever it around
Step fully deployed

I just bought a step when i had mine. Tall enough to reach other side of top box and acted as a handy stool when i had the awning out.
