Hi all. Just joined up. I'm a bit of a fraud, I've got a dispatch-ish. With a low roof and extra seats (it's a Citroen synergie). My brother is a member on here (with an actual dispatch) - kenbw2. Seen the forum a fair bit through him, seems a decent bunch of lads and lasses, and I'm told synergie is welcome here
Was going to get one a few years ago, but ended up on the dark side (galaxy) which does have its merits to be fair, but reliability and computers got i in the way. I'd had enough and wanted to go back to the xud lump so here I am in a synergie. Wanted the 806 version in blue really but beggars can't be choosers and this Burgundy synergie was too good a bargain to pass up on.
Had it a few months now, it's used as our main car, workhorse and temporarily mocked up as a camper for me the wife and the dog to go exploring. I've already fitted the camping electrics with a battery charger wired in, and it's been on its first trip away - 4½ days doing the Scotland north coast 500 - belting trip I couldn't recommend enough! It's taken me and a few mates to Luxembourg for a fag run (and cheeky piss up) and in a week it's taking me the wife and kids (and Ken ) to Spain.
The car is a 1997 R reg, 1.9td xud, it's on 130 something thousand miles (done nearly 10k in it already! ).
It's barely started it's life with us yet. It will be getting many many car camping trips where we'll live in it for a week, going anywhere (we've randomly ended up in Poland once, as you do).
I'll get some pics thrown up later on
So yeah.... Hello

HELLO............ Love to see travel pics..........
I used to slum it (When required) sleeping in a 306(fantastic little travel car) on trips down to Spain .......... So a Synergie is spacious luxury

People often say to me "don't you want something bigger?". Like you I used to take my Peugeot 106 on car camping trips. I'm like "what do you mean? This is huge!"

Some people like to recreate home on wheels. My van is a substitute for backpacking and I have done long tours on a moped and in a Corsa. So my van seems luxurious.
How do you use the Synergie for camping? Folded seats or do you take all the rear seats out?

All the back seats out. Tried various things as a bed. Air mattress is most comfortable but never seem to last more than a few days before leaking air. At the minute we're using a roll out camping mattress and that's plenty good enough. I've got my 12/24/240v cool box, camping stove etc etc. Had curtains up in my last car but not done that in this yet, we've just used cut down windscreen reflective things for now to fit each window. I've got 240 hook up fitted with RCD protection, and hard wired a battery smart charger and just use the existing battery. We don't use it enough to justify the faff of a leisure battery but I'm thinking of putting an hgv battery in place of the standard one. 2 sockets inside the car, possibly going to 4 at some point. I also want to fit a diesel fired heater. Shelving is something I want to do, but it needs to be easily removable and storable at home, because the car needs to be used as a car too

When I first got it
First job, brand it!
Then getting the camping electrics and battery charger fitted
Getting ready for it's first camping trip. More roomy than my galaxy!
A few camping snaps
Quick weekend over to Luxembourg
And just slapped some new Alfa wheels on
It's had a busy few months since I bought it. Think it's the most intense time of its life
If in doubt, give it a clout!

They do along with the vans suit the Alfa rims ........... I especially like the Multi spokes.............. I especially dislike the fiddly cleaning of them though

It generally gets washed every Friday at work with the jet wash so cleaning isn't too much of an issue. Not looking forward to when I sand and repaint them though lol

You want a nice little awning and roof box you do I do much prefer the front end of your's to the vans and them spots make it. Where is Luxembourg for your tobacco run?. I highly recommend Route66 at Windhof

I didn't plan it as such. Stopped at a campsite in Mamer, but because I'm a Muppet and didn't think, hadn't planned on the fact that 99% of Europe is closed on a Sunday. Ended up having to drive all the way across to the other side of Luxembourg and find a place just off the German border. Remich I think it was. That was a long drive from one side of the country to the other. Must have taken at least 20, maybe even 25 minutes!

Ha, i did the same. Got off Ferry and went to Bastogne in Belgium. Got booked in and awning out as we were going to route66 next morning. Just got relaxed and thought, shit! Had to pack up awning and rush down before closing time

I find it's the best way. Plans are boring. We went on a random drive and ended up in Poland once. As you do

Many moons ago I used to do 3 round trips a fortnight from Halewood to Saarlouis for Fords just over the Luxembourg border
In the mid 80's before the motorway
Then we had to drive through Arlon and probibly through Windhof and outskirts of Luxembourg city to pick up the road for the border at Remich then down towards Schengen and Sarlouis (It's nearer Dillingen)on the german side .................
Anyway we always knew we only had a couple hours to go when on the Remich road when we saw the road signs for Assel and Rolling................
Or as we used to see it Rolling Ar**hole
I also had back then ....... you can probibly still get them today..............A T-Shirt with Where the F*** is Ausfahrt

A T-Shirt with Where the F*** is Ausfahrt
I took a mate to Germany with me for his first time. He genuinely seriously said "that Ausfahrt must be a big town"
