Expert XUD9TE rev counter not working

I have a Peugeot expert mkI, 1999 with the XUD9TE engine.
My rev counter does not work, sometimes it jumps a bit but most of the time it just sits at 0.

Does anyone know where the rev sensor is located?
Or any other tips on how to diagnose this?

My experiences are getting somewhat old school and left in the dust rapidly............

Petrol engined vehicle usually had tachometer fed from a pick up on coil.......... God knows where now with coil packs............

Diesel engined vehicles were from a signal wire on back of an Alternator and I'd think that's still as good a place to start...........

I would have thought you'd be the man already in the know with TD 806's and synerge's about you ........

This might be your chance to get that elusive rev counter but ................
1. You would need a control box to convert the signal from Alternator..............
2, Or do prefer to know what time it is?

Oh yea I miss my rev counter from the Synergie and 806. They had a nice digital clock up on the roof though, because posh.

I did look at swapping the dashes but unfortunately the plugs on the back were very different. There were 4 like ribbon plugs on the edge of the dash on the Synergie, whereas the Dispatch has the 2 clippy plugs in the middle.

I did wonder if OAT's 1998(?) dash uses the same plugs as my 1998 806, but it's not easy to pull out to check.

Re: Expert XUD9TE rev counter not working

Maybe the answer is the binnicle if possible to see rear on eBay that's out of which ever version that has the XUD9TE in it with a rev counter obviously..........
{I think that's your's with an intercooler}..............

You could fit a signal wire to your alternator but you'd need that all important controlbox unless its built in to binnicle ..........
Then all you'd need to find is what wire to splice into .................

Hold up, I have many questions!

What was it out of?
What do the plugs on the back of the binnacle look like?
Did it just work straight away?
Which engine do you have?

There is a sensor reads off the fly wheel.  Black sensor in clutch housing leading to quite a chunky brown plug somewhere around the fuel filter area.
