Ouch!!
I only bent the first to start with and not as bad but a queue started to form when i was out looking so had no choice but to go for it. Luckily its just the mounts that bent and not rip the roof. All straight now and i took them uprights off. They were just added as a stay for my ladders. Ill make flip up ones when i have more time.

Something doesnt seem right to me.... 2.98 meters = about 9.7 ft ........
Im sure even with my roof box I'm no more than 7 Ft 6 high and have made it easily under 2.40 barriers....................
I'd measure your overall height and double check that sign is not incorrectly marked up ...........
(IIRC Van is 1.95m high) {standard van}
As that would lead towards a claim on NHS for damages if So

Sorry 1.98.

Sorry 1.98.
I did also email the NHS to complain as the sign should possible say "On Exit" or "Various Heights with 1.98 being lowest" If you make it in would it be wrong to assume to make it out? Anyway i was asked if i wanted to make a formal complaint as i refused as there is an element of my own stupidity for making assumptions

I managed a 1.8 metre one in Manchester:
I parked outside and took a tape measure to every single concrete pillar I'd have to go under. They were all 2+ metres high
I did check out every floor out of interest, and found that the very top floor to outside was 1.85 metres or something.

Sorry 1.98.
That would seem more like it ..................
Sorry it's another one of those things that {tends to stick} I was always concerned about .....................
I ran a 4M {13ft 1} high fridge a lot and it was great but on many occasions it would be a 4.2M {13ft 7} dry{Air} freight............
Just about every railway bridge I'd seem to come across was 13ft 6...............
Motorway bridges (unmarked bridges) are 16ft and over .......... IIRC
I did lengthy stints with double deck trailers (But thats another story) .................
Most bridges {height restrictions} are marked higher than they are but by how much Is a guess {for resurfacing and inaccurate vehicle measurement reasons I'm told}............
And the car Park as you found out are only required to notify you of the lowest height not where it is ...................
