Re: Dispatch Expert, Scudo Hub Meetup?

I had a good little pitch which would have taken three of us.  Unfortunately a selfish big plastic box has parked 3 ft from my door and taken the space.  Site now filling up and still raining.

I hate camp sites!

Pissed off and might head for the hills!

Re: Dispatch Expert, Scudo Hub Meetup?

Yeech - thanks for trying to hold the fort OAT!

The rain has been biblical today. It's supposed to dry up later.

I should be over later on today - but feel free to head to the hills if they're calling!

Re: Dispatch Expert, Scudo Hub Meetup?

Great weekend!

OAT - really sorry not to have met you - spotted your van parked up outside the Craigdarroch Arms last night but guess you were actually in the pub or coach house like the rest of us. Hope you had a good time.

Griff - good to meet you guys and check out your palace on wheels - basically a 4 room house in the shape of a Citroen Dispatch :-) Hope the journey back to Durham was easy going.

Kenbw2 - great to have a blether today and meet your actual house smile Where'd you get to this eve?

Everyone get out the field ok!!??

I'll be back at Moniaive for the Folk Festival in May if anyone fancies that.

Re: Dispatch Expert, Scudo Hub Meetup?

Yeah, Great to meet up with you and Saturday was one of the best nights out I've had in a long long time. Depending when it is in May, I'm very likely to be there again.

Yes the three awnings I had on the dispatch were a bit over the top but I just wanted to check that they would all fit and fit they did. I may not use them all together again but I was pleased with the result and it kept the torrential rain out of the van, as all doors were sheltered. It is still a work in progress, as I take all the bits off my Scudo that blew up and put them onto my Dispatch.

Ken and Oat, Great to meet you two, enjoyed the company and the crack over the couple of days and like I said, if you need any brackets or shelves made or spacers machining, give me a shout and I can even help you fit them if need be.

Cheers, Griff.

Ken and I stopped at Lock Doon last night.  Ken now heading south, I am parked up at Ballantrae harbour.

Sorry to have missed Ian but enjoyed a tour of Griff's mansion.  They will be after him for bedroom tax!  wink

Re: Dispatch Expert, Scudo Hub Meetup?

If I can sort the cooling and pish fuel economy of my one I may keep it since there really is not that many left on the road, therefore if one of these events happens again and I still have it (all based on getting the cooling/fuelling right) then It'd be great to come to an event like this. smile

Re: Dispatch Expert, Scudo Hub Meetup?

Just arrived back to base after Moniave.

Went west to the coast and then headed south down the coast around Solway and down through the Lakes.  Particularly enjoyed Ballantrae and Kirkcudbright bays.  First visit to the Lakes in a few years confirms my feelings that it is being gentrified to the point of sterility.  Still some escape to the north and west but Windermere more like a budget Monte-Carlo.

Terrible mpg though as all done on back roads and hills. Just over 850m but used a tank and a half!  Worst I have ever seen.  I would expect to do that on a single tank full on less challenging roads.  Mind you, 30% slopes and wheel slipping gravel and water don't help.

Re: Dispatch Expert, Scudo Hub Meetup?

You've only just finished your trip! That's amazing! Hell, a tank n a half is a small price to pay for a what, 3 week outing? Think how much most people would pay for accommodation. Cheaper on veg oil too smile

The north of the Lakes is much nicer than the likes of Windermere, more remote. I find the Dales has a more authentic rugged feel, but the Lakes still has its own charm.

Re: Dispatch Expert, Scudo Hub Meetup?

Hi all, I was so looking forward to going back in May and now it's almost June cry
I just hope it's on again in September. I for one will be there and I think I know another 2 or 3 that may be there too.
I'm sure my awnings will have dried out by then big_smile

Re: Dispatch Expert, Scudo Hub Meetup?

This is by far the longest period I have spent in one place for many years.  Been here since early March and have had no wish to move even if I could.   Of course I deeply regret the circumstances behind it but the past almost three months have been the most relaxing and stress free time of my life.  I do tend to social distance when possible at any time anyway so won't have too many problems adjusting back to what passes for normality, but can't say I am looking forward to it.

If possible, and safe, I hope to go to Moniave again for the bluegrass festival.  I notice they are making a decision in early August as to it going ahead or not.

Re: Dispatch Expert, Scudo Hub Meetup?

I bought my van in late 2019 with the express purpose of using it in 2020 for many camping trips! Mind you, it seems a great van and I’m sure eventually normality will return and we will get away. Hopefully with some good weather!

Re: Dispatch Expert, Scudo Hub Meetup?

Well at least I wont need to make any special arrangements for social distancing, just need to put up all my awnings and no one will be able to get too close. Hahaha.

Re: Dispatch Expert, Scudo Hub Meetup?

That's a shame, but not surprising with the 6 person max meetup even in England. Which makes an informal forum meet difficult too

Ah well spotted OAT - thanks for sharing.

A shame indeed - but something to look forward to for next year.

Maybe the May Folk Festival will happen too.

Re: Dispatch Expert, Scudo Hub Meetup?

Just an update in case you miss this elsewhere.

The Festival is on from 23rd - 25th September again this year.

I have my £15 weekend camping pass that I got on the Moniaive Festival website and will hopefully meet up with a few of you up there.

Cheers, Griff.
