MOT

Bert went for its first MOT as me being the owner and yay, passed with just 2 small advisories,
Play in steering rack inner joint offside.
Tyre slightly damaged/cracking or perishing offside
More then happy with that, so now can hunt for a nice set of alloys,  and more trips to enjoy

Pretty much the only ones to get are off an Alfa they go straight on if they came from a 147,156 or GT originally, be warned though a lot are very fragile and were not really up to the job on an Alfa never mind a van, stick to the hefty looking ones with the five recessed holes aavailable in 16" and if very lucky 17" think the 17" ones are from the 147 Selespeed only so pretty rare. Or get the ones in the photo of my camper Muffin they are a 16" mutispoke design off the 156 Sportswagon and also have a good strength rating.

As much as this sounds silly When my van is on Alloy rims ............

  My choice is steelies............
It all depends on what your doing with van and Not all down sides are immediately apparent/present or become so in your application......

Yes better looks? But kerbing, can become porous can't beat on them with a hammer to keep you mobile...........
And of course weight rating.........

Pays yer money make your choice ............

Me too, my priority is that they are round and strong.  Don't need anything else from a wheel.

As for looks... lets face it, you can't polish a turd.

I tend to go with the old adage FFF.  Form Follows Function.  Old fasioned I know as it seems to have translated into Form Follows Fasion.   For the cost of a decent set of allys I could be away for weeks and cover thousands of miles, or sit on the kerb and bask in it's new found street cred.  No contest.

Completely agree. When I planned out the inside of my van I was thinking "I'm gonna make it look really good inside. Nothing obviously bodged and nicely furnished.

But I realised when given a choice between spending more days prettifying things, vs taking the van on trips how much I just don't really care enough.

I do have some alloys that I got for free that I intend to put on the van but it's pretty far down the list.

If it works and fulfills the function, then what more do you want.

Thanks unfortunately due to a very tight timescale to scrap van I had a choice about swapping the alloys or removing the tambour doors from the cupboards, as the doors cost more than the alloys the doors won and the alloys went with the van to the scrappy, although if you are near Devon, Allparts Southwest probably still have them!

My wheels are from an Alfa 156/147 I believe.

I know mine isn't the van version, but the weights are the same and I put the car well through its paces, probably more so than most Vans lol

On my previous van I fitted a set of alloy wheels from the 807. Went straight on and looked pretty good too.

Well I still have the original Placcy Fiat hubcaps on my 2004 Scudo - and I'm sticking with them.   

Front ones are getting a bit battle scarred from run ins with kerbs over the years. Can't believe I still have the set and they haven't self destructed or flow off by now.

Looking for a replacement set myself.  Thet turn up on ebay but often either overpriced or on close inspection broken fixing lugs.

I have two on one side of the van and the other side has bare, rusty steel.  Amazing what a different impression it gives on either side.

Still, I rarely have to look at them.
