Hi all,
Just got back from a trip to London and back, I had a full tank of 50/50 veg and diesel and ran it for 200 miles round the doors before I left Durham. When I got home, I had 711 miles on the odometer and refilled the tank again to find out how much I had used. It worked out at 39 MPG which I was quite happy with, as the first 200 miles was just normal driving and the trip down the country wasn't done very economically as the M1 on a Friday evening had lots of stop/start traffic and where I could, I was doing a constant 70+ MPH. On the return Journey however I kept speed down to 60-65 MPH. If I had driven more carefully for the whole tank of fuel, I could have returned over 40 MPG.
Worth mentioning that on my return I refilled the tank with pure diesel, as the forecast is for a cold spell and I don't want to tempt fate.
For those reluctant to try veg oil, I would recommend starting and running the engine on tick over for a couple of minutes before driving off, especially in colder temperatures. This will give the engine time to warm up and thin the diesel/veg mix, causing less stress on the pump.

Not so much reluctant to use veg oil more reluctant to us with a Delphi pump.

Well this is the second van I've had with a Delphi pump and never had a problem, ticks over and runs fine. Not sure what pump was on my TDI Multipla but it was fine too, for many miles over about 7 years or more.
I'd leave it now though, till the weather warms up to round 10 degrees, usually march.

Sorry for delay, I replied the other day but it didn't post my reply.
To be honest I don't do many miles in the van over the winter anyway, I use my little fiat which has a petrol engine. I don't think its worth running the risk of waxing and blocked fuel lines. I've just filled up with diesel and that may well last into the new year. next time I use veg oil will be when the ambient temperature gets back up to around 10 degrees. If I kept the van in a nice heated garage, I may think differently but it lives out in the back yard.

I have used 2-ehn as recommended above for the first time in my current 60/40 tankful. Incredible the difference it makes for such reletively small amount used in a tank full.
It's cost will obviously reduce the savings but the reduction in engine knocking alone is worth it to me. It also reduces the pronounced pulseing on cold starts which I hope indicates an easier life for the pump. Low end torque is also returned to that expected from neat diesel. It does smoke more on startup but clears within a minute of starting.

I stuck another 15 ltrs in the 306 (veg/sunflower mix) the other day had about a litre of aging lawn mower petrol i threw in also .....
Brimmed it off with about 21 or 2 ltr diesel on what was already in there................
Only thing Ive notest is an occasional miss ....
But this is first use in mornings or later on in the eavning after sitting for many hours and the ambiant temp has been close to zero and yesterday I had left the car for about 6 hours in town in Ayr .....
On our return we had a definite touch of frost on roof..........
Dash/outside temp said -0.5 ....
On leaving town someone had been knocked down and we sat for ages also diverted ....
Outside temp showing a low that I saw of -2.....
No starting issues or running for that matter just an occasional miss/stumble on tick over when engine is cold (no heat in heater) ...........
(But she has done 212,000 and probably wants injectors)

Your 306 is DW8 Bosch right? Is it factory, therefore Bosch injectors?

60% veg. Was a miscalculation first time but ran ok. Couple of degrees frost the other morning but started no problem. More white smoke the colder it is but soon clears. No smoke or hardly any if over 6-8 degrees.
Just need you home to help with the secondary tank set up now.

The 306 has factory Bosch pump and therfore Bosch injectors would certainly be the assumption .............
(Sounds different to a DW8B with Delpi/Lucus pump)
Although as said somewhere The Perkins Prima that I've got has Bosch pump and what I'm led to believe are lucus injectors from factory..........
Two things I'd say 1. Factory was via BL 2. Earlyish direct injection motor (Being 1989)............
Mind you 306 is French alegedly (It has PSA Coventry company Reg I'm suspicious it was built there in old Rootes Factory) ...............
In late Ninties I went to Corby quite a bit and there was a hell of a lot of Peugeots stored on old steel plant land.................

Driven sensibly at legal speeds or just below i am now getting a average of 38mpg and i am now down to one cap full to £20 diesel. The bottle will run out soon but even if i run a bottle threw once a year then i would think its well worth it
Not used the additive for a good 5-600 miles and still getting 38 pushing 39. This is not driving Miss Daisy either.
