Dispatch 1.9D Catalytic Converter?

I bought a 53 plate Dispatch 1.9D a month or two ago: a couple of days ago the front silencer/exhaust box parted company with the down pipe.
Thinking it would be best to replace the whole exhaust I researched it online to find there should be a front silencer, then catalytic converter, then the rear silencer.
Interestingly when I looked underneath there is no cat, just a plain pipe from front box to rear box.
Any ideas on if this:
a) a standard Citroen configuration
b) a known hack to eliminate the cat
c) a totally illegal bodge?

Re: Dispatch 1.9D Catalytic Converter?

Mine was the same when i replaced my exhaust. Plenty people de cat there motors but nt convinced it does anything to make them go faster on a diesel so never understood why. Probably a previous owner was just a bit tight. BTW get the full fixing kit of doing it yourself. I had to cut the nuts away at the start of the down pipe.

Re: Dispatch 1.9D Catalytic Converter?

I've just replaced most of my exhaust in the last 4 months ............
There are two versions with and without a Cat .......
It's (On mine anyway) a 3 part system and the front two bits are not interchangable as one version has a box in front pipe then Cat in middle the older version is box in middle section and plain front pipe..........
Also what I came across is a flange joint on one type and a butt joint with a sleeve on the other..........

Not a 100% sure but if your doing comple system I think either fits.......

There is two version Vaz2121. I was presuming my 03 van was the in between model as i ordered through a web page only for it to say wrong van and the proper option was 30 odd quid dearer. Saying that was i to know i was scammed and could have got away with a non cat version big_smile
